Was 747X Just A Front?
does anyone think the 747x was just a front until the release of the new plane? more hype?

That's exactly what it was. Nothing More, Nothing Less.
It was a classic marketing wedge campaign designed to get cheaper prices on a competing product that was real (the A380) versus one they knew wouldnt really materialize because they went down the same road before with the 747-500/600 not that long ago (1997) and no one bit -then- either.
Now that the campaign has run as far as it could possibly go, it was time for Boeing to sh*tcan it and announce their version of a super "Starship" that can fly 9000 miles. Off the side, It will be really interesting to see how the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) technology winds up in the "Yellowstone". (G)

It's more like the U.S. Marines' ARG role during the Gulf War. If needed, they would have done an amphibious assault on Kuwait.
It was probably a feint on Boeing's part, but if the airlines really wanted the 747X they would have built it. Boeing spent tens of millions of dollars on the design concept.

Also, who else thinks that Boeing may be realizing they're falling back, and this new aircraft is nothing more than a few hours of drawing and possibily some illegal substances and not an aircraft that has actually be designed?

I love Boeings statement on the a/c.
"The ability to fly at speeds of Mach .95 or faster over extended ranges will allow passengers to fly where they want to go, when they want to go - directly to their destinations, avoiding congested hubs and without the hassle and delay of intermediate stops."
So if I want to go from Bogota Columbia to Brisbane at 2.12 AM. This Aircraft will do it for me?? Wow I gotta get one. What happens when the person next to you want to go somewhere else at a different time. It seems like this will severly congest the skys if eveyone has a personalized flight..... And how is this a/c going to avoid congested hubs like Tokyo and Heathrow if that is my destination???

Is Boeing just joking around? or have they really lost their minds. And the stats they presented are even worse 200-300 pax some sort of made up range and capable of flying mach.95 and above and earlier in the article they said top speed of mach .95.
ohhh man... and what happened to the famed blended wing design? I have to agree that this is nothing but a plublicity ploy that should be in operation around the same time as pigs.
