Can any of you who've flown Concorde tell me what
differences there are between the service you get on a scheduled
Concorde flight and the service you get on one of those special
charters, where you fly Concorde one way only and return, economy
class, on an ordinary scheduled
flight?

The Concorde cabin experience is superb, at least on the transatlantic route. If in your question you are asking about BA package trips ("Concorde Vacations"), be advised that the Concorde flight is on a regularly scheduled speedbird between JFK and LHR. Concorde visits the Oshkosh Air Show nearly every summer, and schmucks pay $300 for a half-hour "familiarization" trip. They serve champagne, but certainly not DP. As for Air France, they have more of a charter business for their Concordes. But I cannot see the French skimping on food and drink. Just go for it and enjoy!

Thanks, Stretch 8. The trip I have in mind is on a BA Concorde but it
departs an hour before the scheduled flight so I think it might be a
charter - unless the scheduled departure time is an hour earlier in
September. You certainly get to use the Concorde lounge at Heathrow
and get a "champagne breakfast" but I wondered how the travel company
is able to offer such a good price (£2300 return, including 4 nights
at the Sheraton). Do they just buy a large block of seats from BA so
far in advance that they get them much
cheaper?
Don't get me wrong, I want to do this because it's Concorde. If I only
get a cheese sandwich I'll still try and do it anyway. I was just
curious.

The price is probably lower due to the fact that perhaps the return sector of the journey (i.e. JFK-LHR),
is made on a standard scheduled economy class flight on a subsonic jet (747 etc.).
I recall you referred to Concorde's cabin as "economy".
As far as I am aware, the 2-2 "Supersonic Class" configuration remains the same regardless of whether the flight is scheduled or charter.

At £2300 return it still seems very cheap, considering the one-way
fare for Concorde is up to £3500. If the outward flight is on a
scheduled BA Concorde then I guess it's the usual level of cabin
service. But it's the departure time, 09:30, from LHR that makes me
wonder. According to my BA timetable, their scheduled flight leaves at
10:30. I guess I'll just have to try an get hold of the travel
company.

Hi,
I saw something on british t.v programme 'Watchdog' about charter concorde services having to refuel (somewhere in spain or portugal) because of the extra baggage the aircraft is carrying.

I'm sure you're right but it must have been a different destination.
The only places to refuel on a London - New York flight would be
Iceland or the east coast of Canada. Still, it's food for thought -
more enquiries, I think.

I was on a Concorde charter flight back in 1992 and the service was superb.
Plenty of smoked salmon, chicken and champagne.
A visit to the flightdeck at 60,000ft was one of the highlights.
