A little of history. I know Aeromexico had 5th freedom on MIA-MAD back at the days when they flew the MEX-MIA-MAD-ORY route. Maybe they still preserve that right, but they don't use it currently. I'dont know why.

Aeromex, it be great if AeroMexico still has the route rights and can still fly it, because MIA-MAD is currently only 21x a week (7x 763, 3x 343, 10x 742) and AA and IB are having trouble keeping up with demand. IB wants to add more flights, but until some stuff is worked out between the US and Spain (which is actually expected to work out smoothly), they can't, and the route is largely underserved. I know it's another day dream, but who knows. It could happen. If loads on MEX-MAD ever get low, there is always the option (assuming they have the rights).
