No other aircraft rivals the 727-200 in terms of grace, asthetics, and just good looks, sound, and feel.

I like the 757, but it just doesn't have that "Boeing" nose.

Well, I', a little baised. I like them both. I love the lines of the 727. It may be 30 years old, but it is still sleek looking. The 757 is a good looking aircraft as well.

By the way, this is one of the most fantastic photos I have ever seen of an airliner!  Big thumbs up

For me, seeing a 757 is a much more exciting experience than seeing a 727. The 757 is just so athletic and smooth. The nose of it is also something I admire, I love the bluntness of it. As a matter of fact, I would have to say that the 757 is my favourite Boeing in terms of looks alone. Only the 757-200 though, the -300 looks very awkward to me.

In general, I have always prefered the clean lines of todays modern marvels, A320's, A330/A340's, B757's, B767's and B777's to those of yesteryear. Many would find it hard to believe, but I very much dislike the way the L1011 looks.

They both look great, but I like the 727-200 more.

The 757 look has become generic. Now the 727 has charachter. Especially the 100 series with the oval #2 duct and the short fuselage.

I love the 727 better because it has aft and rear stairs. For a 757 you need an airbridge to get on/off. The 757's nose is ugly as hell it's like Boeing fit an L-1011 nose cone and stuck it on the plane. The range is alomst the same but I don't think any airline flew a 727-200 transatlantically unless if it was for a delivery/maintinance run.

I like the 757 much better. I think that the 757-300 just looks cool (especially in Condor colors).

Do i really have to choose.. The 757 an extremly graceful and powerful looking aircraft. It is a beautiful aircraft in an ugly sort of way (if that makes any sense) but it impresses me a great deal.

The 727, for an old plane i would give it the trophy easily. Its sleek, gorgeous body, is a charm to ride in. I think i would choose the 727....

The 727 is my favorite aircraft. I think the 727 looks far more graceful than the 757. Of the Boeing’s I’d have to say that the 757 is my least favorite. The 757 has far greater range than the 727 almost making it more of a suitable replacement for the 707 or DC-8 rather than the 727. I think the 737-800 makes a much better 727-200 replacement than the 757. I have had the displeasure of being stuck on a UA 757 flying transcon. Flights of 5 hours or more are best served by widebodies IMHO.

The 757 is one of the most beautiful a/c around today by far. I would choose it over the 727 any day. I agree with A330/B777- planes like the L1011 look old and ungraceful to me.

The 722 and the 752 are both two of my favorite aircraft. I'd have to go with the 757 though.

I'll take the 727 over the 757. However, the 707 is better than either.

727 without a doubt and all aircraft of its generation, as
pointed out earlier they had character!

If you looked up to see an aircraft in the 60's or 70's you could tell it apart from another easily. Aerodynamic and computational advances had not foisted on us the incredibly boring shapes of today. Everything looks the same, with rare exceptions the planform is a two engine
small bigger or biggest twin.

Think about some of the beautiful aircraft that rarely
grace our skies anymore the Vickers VC10, B707 B747CLassic,Concorde and most assuredly the perfectly proportioned
1011 Tristar to name just a few.

I suppose it's just me but I don't think there's any competition.

The 727 is a cool plane, I've alwasy liked it! I remember watching a takeoff a few years ago which was so so loud I was just like "wow".

Where I am (Sydney) you don't see a 757 very often!

One other thing, I flew the 727 for six years, and have flown the 757 and 767 for five and the 727 was by far the best handling aicraft out of all of them, a sheer delight to fly, a real pilots aircraft.

The 727 is more majestic. I like the 757 but it does not look as"cool" as the 727 does.

Even thogu the 757 is quite economical but it's boring since nowadays all planes are twin jets. Very soon the skys will look bland for spotting.

Definitely the 727, I'm utterly sick of all the wing engines. The 727/ MD-80/ Fokker 100/ and DC-9 could NEVER be liked better by me. The 757 is nice, BEAUTIFUL even, but it's just TOO generic.

Max Q has a good point.

the 727 was THE pilots aircraft. You flew it, not the computer. Besides it has about the most wing sweep of any of the airliners.

Eyebrow windows, aft airstairs, flight engineer, and three JT8-D's. If you flew it, you knew that airplane inside out and you knew every bump and creak and which switch to flip.

757 makes money...other than that, it will never come close to the 72

Of the two, the 727 wins with a large margin. Personally, I think the 757 is quite ugly  Smile
Overall winner of the lookers is the MD Super 80 series. Prettiest things in the skies (and on the ground as well, when judging aircraft only).

Speaking of the 757, anyone who has a good book on this history of the plane should note that the original 7N7 studies that led up to the 757 had a plane with a lengthened 727 fuselage, T-tail derived partially from the 727 design, and powered by two RB.211-535C or JT10D (neé PW2037) engines.

The final 757 design had two changes from the 7N7 study, namely a conventional tail for safer stall handling characteristics and a wider nose so it could accommodate the same cockpit as that on the 767.

If I was in cockpit, I'd preffer 727; if I was in passanger seat, I'd rather be in 757 - takeoffs in 757s are far the most exciting.

As about looks, they are equally beautifull and elegant. 727 is THE airplane I grew up around, and 757 is so attractive with its tall landing gears. I love both of them.

If I could, I'd buy one of each  Smile
