The following information relates to the total jet sales of Boeing commercial jet aircraft in the year of 2001. The information is direct from Boeing, and all instances of innacuracy are attributed to Boeing.

05 717-200s,
29 737-700s,
05 737-700 Boeing Business Jets,
37 737-800s,
03 737-800 Boeing Business Jet 2s,
13 747-400s,
03 757-200s,
38 757-300s,
24 767-300s,
12 777-200s.

Total 2001 orders: 169

I will get back to you on Airbus' sales, though the information won't be anywhere near as detailed thanks to Airbus having a less advanced database.

Airbus Industrie published a report on their cumulative aircraft sales every now and again. The information is organized by aircraft type and airline, with no relation to year. Therefor, the following information includes the total sales of all Airbus commercial jet aircraft. Airbus has excluded most of the A380 sales for reasons I do not know. In any case, these are the current holdings on orders for Airbus aircraft according to Airbus itself:

0161 A318s,
0708 A319s,
1464 A320s,
0380 A321s,
0580 A300s,
0260 A310s,
0385 A330s,
0309 A340s.

Because these data are cumulative, I will include comparisons by listing Boeing's cumulative data:

A320 family, including A318, A319, A320, and A321:
2713
737 family, including 737-1~9 00s:
4944

A300 family, including A310 and A300:
804
757-767 family, including 757-2~3 and 767-2~4 00s:
1968

A330-A340 family, including A330 and A340:
694
777 family, including 777-200 and 777-300:
575
747 family, including 747-1~4 00s:
1351

I have endeavored to make this post appear unbiased by breaking down the aircraft families. Also on that note, Boeing obviously has vastly outsold Airbus being that the company is much older, but in recent years Airbus has outsold Boeing in terms of aircraft per year. Allegedly they are doing so again this year.

Sundry Info.

These are just some other things to note,

A. The Airbus data is less up-to-date than the Boeing, so changes may have occured. I believe some A340-600 orders were cancelled, and there are about 50 A380 orders not listed.

B. The orders listed for Boeing specify how many of the 737-700s and 737-800s were Boeing Business Jets. Airbus' similar jet, the A319CJ (corporate jet), was not listed separately, so it is not possible to compare the sales of these two business planes. However, the BBJ is offered in two varients, the BBJ1, being based on the -700 model, and the BBJ2, being based on the -800 model. Given the number of the aircraft seen in the general photography community and on this page, the BBJ would seem to be greatly outselling the A319CJ.

C. A318s have not yet gone into production. Once they do and customers have a chance to get to know them, orders for them may increase.

D. In 2001, no Boeing 737-600s, 737-900s, 767-200s, 767-400s, or 777-300s have been ordered.

Boeing updates their orders on weekly basis. Total new orders in 2001 (from January 1 to June 22): 169

For details see http://www.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.html

Boeing lists both, new orders, as well as cancellations or conversions (from one aorcraft type to another).

Airbus updates their orders on a monthly basis. Total orders in 2000 (from January 1 to May 31): 144. This does NOT include the orders placed during Paris Air Show (100+). They only list new orders, but do not show cancellations or conversion, so there is no easy way to track how many old orders have been cancelled and/or converted during the same period.

There is an XLS file available on the site which shows a very detailed report of the orders in 2001 by company. Unfortunately it still doesn't show the orders of the Meeting of Le Bourget.

United airline, you can't compare Boeing and Airbus. Boeing has to be compared with EADS or Airbus has to be compared with the civilian airplane activity + military transport of Boeing.
