Fantasy Livery: Lufthansa

Sun Jul 01, 2001 6:18 am

I've read numerous requests for a Lufthansa redesign, here's one from me that draws from the 1995 frogdesign rebranding...

Enjoy,

Looks good, but that brown color reminds me of Asiana

I like your liveries in general, but I have to tell you that your second American Airlines livery won't happen. The U.S. Flag Code prohibits incorporation of the U.S. flag in any design other than in its entirety on a uniform.

Those were great! What program do you use? I could spend hours doing things like that.

Nations Air incorporated the flag on their tail, as does North American Airlines. Are you sure on this?

Very Impressive! I like your take on the Canadian A380. Too bad it won't happen. :-(

Cheers!

Well I like your idea but still I think what they have is the best they can have! An other livery just wouldn't fit to the image of Lufthansa. But maybe they could paint a special "Ju 52 Bird" such as Condor did with D-ABNF which turned out to be the "Rizzi Bird" and give it the livery you desingned. I think that would be cool!

Great job, Puck!

I like the Lufthansa livery but I have to say that I just LOVE the Air Mauritius one!

Did you ever try to propose these to the different airlines' management teams? You should!

Your tail waves are very much like those of Air Tahiti Nui. Is that where you got the inspiration for those?

Your Lufthansa design is much better tan the current boring and bland scheme. I like it. Keep up the good work.

I like all the liveries you made - but not the new Lufthansa c/s. In my opinion you have used too much of this brown/grey and too less blue, which is one of Lufthansas corporate identity colors: yellow/orange, blue, grey.

BTW: The TWA A380 looks incredible! Just great!

Keep up working!

Very Impressive livery.... Can you do B744 & B777 for Royal Jordanian Airlines, I don't thinks they fly them either... I wants to see which looks good on...

Try making a Royal Jordanian livery on these 2 (Boeing 744 & 777)

Simply Perfect

Mon Jul 02, 2001 10:02 pm

As I have said before (dear Puck, to you and to AirOrange) I think airlines should contact you instead of Landor. This work is simply perfect, it is a litlle Asiana like but sure a great improvement. I'm so happy to have seen it.

Awsome Job!!! Much nicer then their current Euro-White colours, although a bit more blue would be good.

How about a Canada 3000 Livery?

That TWA A380 looks fantastic! The Lufthansa colors are pretty awesome as well. Pity the Germans are such a conservative bunch - I doubt they would make so drastic a change.

Uh, I´m sorry, but I dislike all of your livery concepts, including LH. I told you that in an earlier thread, it´s nothing personal, I just don´t like them. Sorry.

P.S.: Looks like I´m again the only one to give you negative feedback...

I agree that Lufthansa needs a new design, and I love your effort, but this livery that you have created is not what I would consider "Lufthansa"...
Yes, it's easy to be a critic, but it is a little too gray.
Otherwise, you are very talented and you should continue working on these designs until YOU believe you have created the right one!
Thank you for sharing you art with all of us!

Hey there,

Thanks for all the feedback, both good and bad, it's fun to see how people respond...

Lufthansa's corporate identity at their hub airports is largely about grey and yellow, with just a hint of blue, and makes excellent use of the corrugated concept, check it out at: http://www.frogdesign.com/design/convergence/capabilities/brand_digitalmedia_product/lufthansa/index.html. I only wish I could have captured it better on the plane.

Anyways, for the eternal questions of how I go about creating these concepts - templates are from Airbus's or Boeing's websites:
http://www1.airbus.com/aux_services/drawings.asp
http://www.boeing.com/assocproducts/aircompat/
under 'Download three-view drawings'
and I use Adobe Illustrator 9, but any vector-based drawing program should do.

It's a lot of fun, I hope we see more designs here on the forum. And no, I've never tried to sell any airline on my ideas, I have no idea where I'd begin. Any suggestions?

I agree with everyone, they are all fantastic. Keep them coming.

Do you ever send your ideas to the airlines???

My favourite would have to be the united livery. The current one could really do with a facelift!

No offense or anything, but I just don't like it at all. The beige/grey/brown mixture just doesn't look right.

The colors do clash a bit. I mean a lot.

The reason why this livery looks so nice is because it's on a 777.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Put the original LH livery on a 777, and you'll love it even more.

That UAL livery is GREAT.

This scheme is not anything unbelievable, since it mainly stems from the new UAL logo which we've all seen a million times. But seeing this in living color is just sweet!

Things to consider:

1) This a little bit like bmi. Consider adding a red stripe to separate the blue/white on the fuselage. I think it gives it a more bolder, distinct United appearance.

2) I think it is maybe going a bit far, but you could get rid of the orange completely. I don't know why United ever chose this color. It is in a sense a wild color that usually goes well with only black, white, and other wild colors. The scheme looks very striking without the orange.

3)Try putting the U on the engines. See how that looks.

4) YOU MUST PUT THIS SCHEME ON THE 777 FOR US!

5) Send this to UAL. Just email it to any old Joe in customer service. They will probably be glad to help you find where it needs to go.

Take a look: Sorry I screwed up the engine!http://members.nbci.com/e4meserver/ual.jpg

Thanks for reading.
