Why Is This Northwest 747 At Las?

Thu Jul 12, 2001 2:41 am

Where do Northwest operate the 747s to/from LAS? Do they still operate the 747 into LAS? Thanks in advance.

They flew nonstop to Tokyo for a year or two (?). Twice weekly, I think.

The LAS-NRT nonstop has been discontinued and now runs LAS-LAX (757) and LAX-NRT (747)

I believe JAL operates non-stop to Tokyo.

JAL does not operate non-stop to Tokyo; their 747 is routed Tokyo-Vegas nonstop but returns to Tokyo via LAX 4 times a week, and via SFO once a week. There is currently no nonstop flight on any carrier from Las Vegas to Tokyo.

I had a similar question about a UA 744 that I saw in a picture as part of a feature article that one of the airliner magazines was doing on LAS. Does anyone know why this aircraft was there? It had to have been recently since it was parked at the new remote concourse/terminal.

NWA doesn't currently operate any B747s into LAS (from the last time I checked). Maybe they might have a cargo route, that's all I'd expect.
