The coolest charters I saw were when Da Bulls, during Jordan's heyday, and the Boston Red Sox, used to charter an MGM Grand DC-8, laid out with these huge First Class-type seats, with fruit bars, and a buffet on board, with TV's at each seat and all over the aircraft. It was pretty cool.
And Favre, a special 56-seat aircraft isn't big enough to fly an NFL team. You'd have to leave some of the coaches, the trainers, the equipment guys, and the front office people behind.
Even when a team has an "official" airline, it doesn't mean they don't fly anyone else. Back in 88, the Old Browns were flying to London for the annual pre-season game there. Even though CO was their official carrier at the time, they chartered a TW 747 to take them from CLE to LHR.
