Overwhelming (87%) say go back to the 'old' a.net. So when's it going to happen?

As of this moment, I don't like the new site either, and apparently 87% of us agree with that. Having said that, I'd say wait two weeks and take the poll again, then people will have had a chance to "warm up" to the new look.

So, for now, count me in the "don't like" camp.

I like the new site. I think there needs to be some contrast adjustments on some of the color scheming though.

I agree, wait two weeks and take the poll again. I don't know how to double quote in one reply, but the font needs to be bigger, and black not gray! If I enlarge it to see it better it goes off the screen.

Hi All,

New user here, registered a few minutes ago. I have to admit that this new look carries a few reading difficulties. Maybe it's just me, and the settings are somewhere I did not find, but I think the font is too small and the contrast - light gray on white - make it difficult to read. Also, I preferred the previous dark blue background. :?

I miss a lot of the old functions in the photo center were I could search photos by airline, aircraft type, cabins. The color contrast is very difficult for older eyes to read. The larger list does not allow you to see a long list of topics. No star by your responses. The list could go on.

I realize that it always takes time for a new format to be comfortable and accepted, but this will take a lot of patience.

I agree that the colour scheme is the best BUT it can be changed. PhpBB is a very customizable forum system so
the admins should be able to change the background colours to the same blue colour shade as the old a.net had.
I don't know why this wasn't done from the beginning but it is possible. The goes for the text colour which can be
changed to white if the change the background colours to blue.

Regarding the photo search ( this have been mentioned already) but just click advanced and you will be able to find the same kind of filter as
the old a.net photosearch had. I just tried to find photos of Airbus A330-300s in Sweden this was the result:
https://www.airliners.net/search?aircraf ... ountry=409 It works just fine.
Search results for LN-RKU registration:; https://www.airliners.net/search?registr ... splay=card
works just fine. So what is the problem?

Ok start page needs some work and the forum needs a colour make over but other then that the features I use seems to be working fins.
As I said the forum look is something that can be changed and I also believe the new forums is more flexible when it comes to
split topics, move one message from one thread to another and etc.

Also as you can see, the new forum also fully supports https links which was a menace on the old forum.

The old A.net is dead, deal with it.

Oh, and don't throw me that "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" With that logic, we would still be flying B707's and L1011's... (Perhaps this wasn't the best example, considering the audience of this site)

I personally enjoy the white background in the text field, it makes it somewhat more pleasant to compose text.

Whoa there, the old site had character like no other site on the web. This was the Airliners.net, not some generic website with out-of-the-box software. I am wondering when they're going to go back - look at all the negativity!

And I would love to fly the 707s and L1011s. The older, the better! (The Wright Flyer is the furthest I'll go though.)

I got an add blocker add on for Chrome and that fixed the adds issue. It was horrible. Now, with the add blocker, not so bad. Its actually allowed me to explore more of the new features this website has without being annoyed with adverts.

In the space of one page on the new look, we could have had 4 pages in the old look.

The new look isn't as easy to scan for topics.

Agree, the contrast needs to be different. I don't find this easy on the eyes. In fact, it's uncomfortable after a minute.

Absolutely horrific way to ruin a once fantastic website. If it aint broke, keep fixing it until it is. You have succeeded beyond your wildest dreams.

I'm an aircraft technician, and thus grumpy 24/7 ;) The old A.net had it's charms, definitely - I have to admit that the new font, is a tad bit large, at the old forums you could view twenty topic headlines, at the same time. Now, it's around seven or something.

For someone who is in Marketing Automation consulting and values the look and feel of webpages & styling this was LONG overdue. I think it's great and clearly somebody is finally listening about the forum corruption that has plagued this site for years.

Add me to the list of folks who want to go back to the old format! Also, what happened to the "reply numbering"?

That's gotta be a glitch with regards to the numbering system - I'd assume that would get corrected first along with the blue background which has already been nearly confirmed.

As a new user, I'm not sure if people got notified before (don't think they did) but I like how I get notifications when people quote my posts. Also I like the new branding "AIRLINERS". Quite catchy.

Wow, people here really hate change! ;) The a.net was SUPER outdated. It looked like it was from the 90s, and probably because it was. It didn't work on mobile devices very well, and to be honest, was quite ugly. This is much easier on the eyes, and it works on mobile, and it looks like it was from this decade.

I REALLY miss the flags, however. Please bring them back!

Less than 300 votes is not a useful sample size.

Since I am making my first post since the relaunch, let me share my two cents here.

I am all for a new CMS and forum, but every effort should have been made to retain as much of the previous functionality (first priority) and theme/branding. Breaking the site to start anew was a bad idea. If that wasn't the intent, then it speaks volumes about the competence of the people that executed this transition because, well, look at the clusterf**k here.

The old site needed updating, it was clunky in parts and suffered too many bugs. But there is a vast difference between update and complete overhaul. The new format has already caused me to visit less and in particular to comment less. That said, we are probably gone too far for the change to be reversed

Please, go back to the old one. It was a classic, easy to use site. Now is an amorphous one. Somebody before me put it wiht unmatched precision: "Absolutely horrific way to ruin a once fantastic website. If it aint broke, keep fixing it until it is. You have succeeded beyond your wildest dreams."

That was written a week ago, so I'd say they got one week left to significantly upgrade the new site. Otherwise, two weeks later, it'd still be a no-vote.

I'm getting used to the new look, but that doesn't mean that I like it.
