Airline Schedule Locking
Can someone shed some light on when airline schedules are locked? For example, I know when booking a flight, schedule changes and/or adjustments can happen several times, especially when booked far in advance. Is there a timeframe prior to a flight when schedules are locked and no schedule changes are made? I had heard once on AA schedules are locked about 3 months out. Is that true?

It depends on the company.
United 60 days out is locked in, generally. Up to 90 days out is mostly complete but still subject to final tweaking. Anything past is usually a dummy schedule that hasn't been adjusted much.
Delta is about 2-3 months.

It never locks until you are on the plane. The crew schedule is usually bid about 30-45 days out and that makes it harder to change, but there really is no such thing as locked nowadays. Delta will swap types up till departure if they can manage it with crew and/or reserves. They definitely do not lock 90 days out. I promise they will still tweak SEP which is only 48 days or so away.

From a planning perspective, schedule changes can occur up to around 30 days prior to departure. Anything after that generally occurs purely for operational reasons; since pricing and availability are (obviously) developed/impacted by your schedule and equipment, it's not exactly prudent to go making those changes so close in.
