Hi all, been a while!!
Ive just been on FR24 and followed DHL flight BCS806P LTN-LHR. A300 D-AEAR.
During its short 28 mile, 20 minute hop it reached a max altitude of 3,600ft.
A few questions;
Was this a positional flight as I understand DHL do a lot of work for BA as their B767 fleet retire?
Has anyone else seen a flight or been on a flight as short and as Low as this?
What sort of altitude and flight times are the BA Positional's between LHR-LGW?
Finally I'm intrigued to learn of any other regular short positional's by airlines?

I've seen MDW-ORD 15 miles, EWR-JFK 21 miles, IAD-DCA 24 miles (all re-positioning flights) and OAK-SFO 11 miles,.. There are quite a few threads over the years about the OAK-SFO flights.
Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.

A friend was recently travelling from Australia to the UK via Dubai. Very local weather problems at DXB caused his flight to divert to Sharjah (SHJ). When the storm at Dubai cleared, they took off again and flew SHJ-DXB. The two airports are only about 12 miles apart, which I guess must be one of the shortest passenger flights a 777 has been used for.

I wondered if the US would feature highly on the repositioning side of things.

As inconvenient that may of been for some I bet that was an experience!
Appreciate these diversion scenarios as well. Forgot about them.
Any idea what sort of altitude these flights got to before descending?

EA once had scheduled service between FLL and MIA, shown in their timetables as 22 minutes gate to gate (and only 21 miles distance).

As I recall, Malmo Aviation used to operate several daily services between Malmo in Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark with BAe146s. It was touted as the shortest international flight in the world at the time with a distance of 44.4 kilometres. No longer operates.

The Loganair flight from Westray to Papa Westray wins again
53 seconds, costs £17 after the essential air service grant. It's 1.7 miles in length and probably doesn't even break 300 feet at the most and as it's so short, 100 feet is probably more regular.
