Pyramid Airlines (Air Lines?) Tupolev - help identifying aircraft

Hi, I'm a long time reader of these forums, frequent traveller, and airliner fan. This is my first post, please let me know if it's in the wrong place.

Back in 1993, at the age of 12, I went on the holiday of a lifetime to Egypt with my family. One of the many highlights of this trip was a short flight we took from Aswan to Abu Simbel to see the temple of Rameses II. What I remember from this flight was:

- It was operated by Pyramid Airlines (or Air Lines)
- The aircraft was a Tupolev jet, a Tu-134 I think
- I remember it being an incredibly loud and bumpy flight. My brother and I both loved it, but my mum was so terrified she made us adopt the brace position on landing!

I have searched in vain for any meaningful information about this airline and aircraft. Any help in identifying would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Pyramid Airlines Charter Services leased two Tu-134 from Belavia for a short time in 1992-3, so that certainly fits with your timeline.

CCCP-65106 c/n 60315
CCCP-65133 c/n 60645

Both these planes are currently stored in Minsk.

Pyramid have operated a pretty eclectic fleet of planes over the years - Tu-134s, YS-11s, Convair 340/440 but mainly DC-3s. Although the company still seems to exist, they don't appear to be operating.

Amazing! Thank you so much. I looked up those registrations and found a photo for sale on ebay - exactly as I remember. Thanks scbriml, I love the power of airliners.net.

Just in case, you don't have a safety card from that plane?
