Virgin America seating

I am taking my first Virgin America flight in November from SFO to PDX. I am very fussy about having overheard bin space for my carry-on. I do not want to gate check it or place it under the seat in front of me. Is there an ideal seating assignment that may assure me overhead space? Do they board from the back first? I tried to book a Main Cabin Select seat but there were sold out.....Thanks for any advice!!

Congrats on getting your first VX flight, you'll definitely love it. I would recommend sitting towards the back of the aircraft as there's always more overhead space there whenever I sit between rows 18-25. Virgin America does not board back to front like on jetBlue, they use zones like AA/DL/UA. You do have the option of buying priority boarding during check in however, if you wish to get on a little faster to secure that overhead bin space.

I have flown on Virgin several times and never had any problems with finding overhead space. I usually sit towards the rear of the aircraft. Just make sure you board in the first couple people of your boarding group and you will be fine.

Enjoy the flight! I have never had a bad Virgin experience.
