As I'm sure many know, BA don't specify which type of B777 they use on any of their website.

But does anyone know which model they use on each of their three LHR-DXB flights? I'm hoping to get on a B773 in April 2018.

Why would you decide to fly BA? Old aircraft like the 777-200 and the ER version on the route. And old terminal arrival in DXB.
Much nicer on the Emirates A380 with state of the art IFE.

Some people like older aircraft. I know I'd rather take the much rarer B772 than an A380.

Is the 772/ER rarer than the A380?

The non-ER 772 - called a 772A by some airlines, is certainly pretty rare, and getting rarer.

The 777s used to Dubai have the same seats as the 777-300/787/380 and the same inflight entertainment, with plug sockets and USB charging points. There may a rare occasion where a Rolls-Royce model is subbed, which do have the old seats/entertainment, but this will be a very rare occasion!

I know the Heathrow based B77Es have new interiors but Gatwick haven't yet they're starting next year

Not ALL the Heathrow based B772's have/are getting the new interiors though are they?

G-ZZZA to ZZZC are 4-class 777-200s (GE engines) and have new interiors. LHR based.
G-VIIA to VIIH, VIIJ to VIIN, VIIIS and RAES are 4-class 777-200ERs (GE engines) and have new interiors. LHR based.
G-VIIO to VIIR, VIIT and VIIU are 3-class 777-200ERs (GE engines) and have old interiors (refitted next year). LGW based.
G-VIIV to VIIY are 4-class 777-200ERs (GE engines) and have old interiors (refitted next year). LGW based.
G-YMMA to YMMF and YMMR to YMMU are 3-class 777-200ERs (RR engines) and have old interiors (refitted next year). Both LHR and LGW based.

GE engined aircraft don't have crew rest areas fitted so are usually used on shorter routes (i.e. Dubai).

No. The best is to compare seatmaps on your flight vs. BA Source. Once you do that you can tell if your plane i scheduled to be the old type or the new type!

The BA source shows the 772's and 772ER's as having the same Thales IFE and the 2010 standard economy seating as the 773ER's

Wow, thanks for that! Very detailed. Seems all over the place but I know this is obviously due to varying factors. So by the end of next year, all BA B777's will be refitted - pretty awesome!

NOT necessarily, only some, although yes LGW sub fleet will all be converted

There's 25 777's going to 10 across so it would make sense to be all of gatwick and whatever is left to make up the 25 at LHR. They probably wish they had stuck 10Y in when they refurbished all the fleet last time round, obviously costs more to refit now than they'd benefit plus cardiff is going to be jammed up with the current 10Y refurbs.
