Is there an Aircraft you have flown with all Operators?

Thu Oct 05, 2017 7:09 pm

Have you flown an particular aircraft on every operator/ airline? I have done on the 767-400ER and soon to flown every operator of the A380 by April.

That's only possible on rare aircraft, and no aircraft I've flown is that rare. It's practically impossible to fly every single airline that flies a 737-800 for example. The rarest aircraft I've flown is probably the 717, although only with one airline and there are some others.

Does anyone besides Delta still fly the MD-90? If not then I guess I can say I've flown on it with all current operators...

Nope, no other airlines flying the MD-90 anymore. UNI Air and China Southern were the last two others, but they retired it last year.

If we're going by current operators (or at least, at the time I flew them), then all I've got are the Delta MD90 and maybe Delta DC95 (at the end, did anyone else in the world fly the DC-9-50 commercially?).

I've been on some other oddballs and relatively rare types (A318, B717, B753, E140, E190) but still not all airlines that flew them. I have been on every USA-based operator of the A318 (F9 at the time) and E190 (B6 and US at the time), but not worldwide. Similar for the Delta B717 except I've never flown HA. American Eagle might also have been the only U.S. ERJ-140 operator when I flew with them but that was a while back so I'm not really sure. Continental Express maybe had some at the time.

If you boil it down to minor subtypes, I've also been on the ERJ-145XR with Continental Express (ExpressJet) when they were the sole operator, but I usually don't like to distinguish minor subtypes like that (I treat the MD82 & MD83 as basically the same, likewise with 767-300 and 767-300ER, etc.)

EVA Air retired their MD-90s mid 2016.

Prior to that, I logged in a flight on both BR and DL, at the time they were the only MD-90 operators.

Just 65 MD-90s remain....

Well, I guess if we're going for "every operator at a given time" rather than "every operator ever", then I flew the MD-11 when only KLM operated it as a passenger aircraft, and I've flown the MD-90 with Delta plenty of times.

Considering that I normally fly on A333s, I think this will never be achievable for me..

Getting all 13 operators of the A380 is quite a feat. Especially with limited routes/number in some such as QR, OZ and CZ.

I’ve only got EK and EY although granted multiple times with each.

Look up a.net member The777Man. He has allegedly flown the 777 with every one of it's operator - yes the Boeing 777.

Why would you refer to it totally incorrectly as DC95 to begin with then correctly call it DC-9-50? Just curious.

DC95 is the ICAO code for it... so it's not incorrect.

Yes I agree I thought about that too. I've done four. AF QF EK and BA. But it would cost a fortune to chase them around. I mIght manage to add QR but OZ KE CZ particularly are unlikely. So no.

I think it's a tall order to get all the carriers for one type.

To clarify, he has logged a flight on a 777 of every airline that has got 777s delivered new from Boeing. Still 50+ airlines, an impressive feat!
Nothing compares to taking off in an empty 757 with full thrust!

If you'll pardon the low-hangingness of the fruit, the 747-8. CA SFO-PEK, KE SFO-ICN and ICN-SIN (same trip!), and LH LAX-FRA (yes, I went out of my way for that last one).

I might be able to claim that one as well, except I'm not sure if the 744 I flew on was an ER or just a regular one (Qantas operated both at the time, if I remember correctly). Would LAX-SYD in 2012 likely have been an ER version?

Biman DC-10, Nextjet BAe ATP, and Air Chathams Convair 580 would be the ones that come to mind

I flew on a Vanguard of both TCA/Air Canada and BEA, when they were the only operators of the aircraft.

I've flown a 737 on United, Lufthansa, Southwest, Sun Country, but that's not even close to all the operators, I'm afraid.

Yep, I've flown every operator of the 747-400ER too, and 25% of all examples built as well! :P

It is a bit hard to say as all three types of QF 744 were in service then (and indeed still are, though the ERs now outnumber the others). If it had Rolls-Royce engines it was definitely a standard 747-438, but if it had GEs it could be an ER or one of the three standard 744s QF bought from OZ and MH.
