Callsigns get really fun when you dive into the smaller airlines. In terms of major airlines, "Cactus", "Speedbird", and "Shamrock" are certainly among my favorites, as are "Springbok" (South African Airways) and "Rednose" (Norwegian UK).
But smaller/regional airlines are more creative.
Trans States - "Waterski"
ViaAir - "Stingray"
ExpressJet - "Acey"
Republick - "Brickyard"
Sun Air Express - "Friendly"
and plenty more

IMO, it's hard to top "Speedbird" for BA. For many pilots, their first airline call sign probably has special meaning, too.

This could be a long list.

Always liked Kestrel. Currently Thomas Cook UK. Fitting for an airline.

As far as I know, Eagle, Falcon etc without qualification (eg; Eagle Flight- American Eagle as was) are not in use by any large operators.

Agree with KESTREL for Thomas Cook UK. Goes right back to Airtours International in the 1980's, who became MyTravel. When MyTravel and Thomas Cook merged, Thomas Cook kept on the Kestrel callsign. Pre-merger, Thomas Cook used TOPJET which wasn't too bad either.

Another great UK charter callsign was Air2000/First Choice's JETSET. It's a shame that callsign was dropped in the other big merger of First Choice/Thomson. TUI UK as they are now dropped THOMSON for TUIAIR however they have had to change that in the last week and are now TOMJET. Both are terrible, shame they didn't revive JETSET or even BRITANNIA.

Thinking back, the UK Charter airlines have had some great callsigns over the years. Special mention to MONARCH, which sadly isn't heard any more.

Virgin America - "Redwood"

As someone pointed out years ago at A.net, it fits VX's Northern California roots and the brand's love for double entendre.

Sadly the airlines is no more.

AirAsia Group has some pretty good one.

AirAsia = Red Cap
Indonesia AirAsia = Wagon Air
Philippines AirAsia = Cool Red (Don't know how "cool" they really are, though)
AirAsia India = Red Knight (Although another airline in India, aka AI, need a White Knight rather than a Red one :scratchchin: )
AirAsia X = Xanadu
Indonesia AirAsia X = Red Phoenix

On the other hand, both Thai subsidaries (Thai AirAsia = Thai Asia, Thai AirAsia X = Express Wing) have ultra boring call sign.

Another one of my favorite is Virgin Australia = Velocity.

It goes back a way, but Santa Barbara, California's Apollo Airways was "Sonic". I always assumed it was because of the incredible noise from the original Handley Page Jetstream and the Turbomeca Astazou engines. You could here those over everything else at an airport. And inside too; regular passengers brought ear plugs or even solid ramp ear muffs.
Worked for WestAir, Apollo Airways, Desert Pacific, Western, AirCal and American Airlines (Retired). Flight Memory: 181 airports, 92 airlines, 78 a/c types, 403 routes, 58 countries (by air), 6 continents. 1,119,414 passenger miles.

Redwood lives on
To me, it will always be:
- Bombardier CSeries
- Airbus A321neoLR and A321neoXLR
- EMBRACER ERJ-170, ERJ-175, ERJ-190, and ERJ-195
- MITSUBUSHI MRJ

Anti narrowbody-long range-twinjet gang. Long live the A380 and 747!

TUI Belgium uses the callsign of Beauty, while ASL Belgium uses Quality as a callsign.

BTW, you mentioned Busy Bee---Norwegian Air Shuttle's AOC is the Busy Bee AOC (even though Busy Bee collapsed, management was anticipating a collapse and the necessary key Busy Bee assets were used to restart as Norwegian Air Shuttle about 5-6 weeks later). I'd hope for a B789 to be painted in Busy Bee's livery,

Not anymore, Tigerair (Singapore) are fully merged into Scoot and use “Scooter”.

Tigerair Taiwan is “Smart Cat” and Tigerair Australia use the utterly inane “Tiggoz”.

Interestingly despite Tigerair being a brand associated with SIA, the two remaining Tigers are 100% owned by China Airlines and Virgin Australia respectivel.

Just noticed this one.

The callsign stays alive for Canadian North.

Two more after random searches:
NokScoot = "Big Bird" (I guess its widebodies are big compare to the narrowbodies that Nok Air fly. Nok means "bird" in Thai).
IndiGo = "IFly" (I am really tempted to copy a certain tech company and call it "iFly").

Dynasty and Velocity sound pretty awesome. I recall an airline had Jedi for their call sign at one point. Will also certainly be missing the redwood call sign, as well as “speedbird Concorde”

Agreed, two of my favorites...classy...especially CP's, which of course is the same thing they named each aircraft except, oddly, the 727's and 737's. Only the DC-8's & bigger had Empress names, and I always wondered why.

Used to fly from MME and there was a few dasault biz jets with hard points flown by cobham under the fr-aviation banner and were electronic decoys for the RAF, they used the call sign “Vader” which I thought was pretty cool, especially when accompanied by a couple of hunters.

This is at the top of my list too. However, your comment is unnecessary. While CI has had safety incidents in the past, their track record is very good of late. They have greatly improved. I flew them last year to RGN and was very impressed with them.

I didn't hear anyone say Springbok yet. That's another classic.
