BA 747 - Wifi?

Wed Sep 19, 2018 3:06 am

Friend flying BA 0192, 20 Sep, DFW-LHR. 747-400. Any way to find out whether it will be one of the WiFi-enabled 747s?
...three miles from BRONS, clear for the ILS one five approach...

Very unlikely unless you get an aircraft swap.

WiFi is on 12/16 of the High-J frames and none of the soon to be retired mid-J frames. The BA192 is operated with the latter.

Unless the flight is both changed to a High-J configuration and you get one of the frames equipped, you will not have WiFi.

Your flight is scheduled now to be operated by G-BNLN.

It is a mid-J that hasn't been refurbished and no WiFi. It is the next frame due for retirement later in Nov this year so I wouldn't expect a lovely new clean interior either. Although it's still a 747. ;)

Not all refurbished B747s have WiFi either - I guess one can find out when the crew makes their after take off announcements.
G-CIVT had WiFi, G-CIVI did not (both with the refurbished interior).

Thanks all for the scoop. I can at least hope the Club World upper deck will be reasonably pleasant.

Only BA flight thus far was Basel-LHR, and when I saw that "Club Europe" was coach with a tray on the center seat, I was... underwhelmed. Service was pleasant, though, and that's something better than nothing!
