Personal Question, what is the most attractive airline livery that you've seen so far on an airliner? Which one, which A/C and why?

"Please forgive me if this question was asked in another thread earlier"

1. Azerbaijan Airline

2. Eithad

3. Fiji Airways

Each of these airlines has taken inspiration from local culture and done something different(maybe I just love the deep blue of Azerbaijan)

Honorable mentions
1) ANA A380

BOAC VC-10.

Pure elegance worn by a flying artwork.

It just got a new coat of paint and having seen it up close, the blue seems brighter than before. Even this great photo doesn’t do it justice.

And somehow these are strangely reminiscent of the BA World Tails series so often panned here!!

Surprised nobody has mentioned Vietnam Airlines. Air New Zealand all black is also excellent. But I think Azerbaijan takes the cake.

Among the current (semi-)regular ones, my top 5:

1. ANZ All Black

2. Fiji Airways

3. Hawaiian (how the hell aren't hey up here yet)

4. Kenya

5. Westjet

Honourable mention to old LA

and Icelandair's Northern lights

Overall, disappointing performance for my home carriers here in Europe and the other Western carriers

I have four picks, of which only two are actually used by airlines.

Air France Boeing 787-9. In my opinion, the Air France livery looks stunning, but especially on the 787-9. Generally, I prefer the look of the A350 to the 787, but I think there's something about the 787 that makes this livery look amazing on it. Can't say for sure until AF receives their A350s.

Lufthansa new livery (the original). Yes, I know this is very controversial on this site. But it's still one of the most attractive airline liveries to me. It looks very professional, and elegant.

China Southern normal livery on 787. I know CZ decided to use a special livery on all its 787s, which is kind of disappointing to me, because I think their normal livery on the 787 would be stunning. Their livery looks average on the likes of the 777 and A380, but to me, the proportions of the 787 make it look amazing.

Airbus house livery. While this isn't an airline livery, I think this livery is also one of the greatest liveries. I love the one on the A350-1000, because of its proportions, but I think the A350-1000 livery can be improved by removing the large blue '1000' on the side.

Gulf Air Tristars from the 1980s was always one of my favourites. The Tristar was a nice looking plane anyway and the GF colours always seem to suit it.

Still trying to decide on my current one

Some from the past, some from the present. I like the previous KLM livery with the straight line rather than the curved one they have now and also the previous American Airlines and not the new Lufthansa livery.

TN, VN, HM, HA are all very nice.
Lots of one-off special liveries are great too - the two Icelandair ones are fantastic, and the ill-fated SQ "Tropicale" was brilliant. As were the two QF 747's in Aboriginal designs

My all time favourite livery but from a bygone era now would be British Caledonian Airways, their splendid blue and gold colours with the rampant lion on the tail always stood out especially on their A310 and DC10.

Another former British airline with a marvellous colour scheme was Court Line.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Braniff or CP Air which I'm sure we're all agree both had marvellous liveries.

But I'm going to be a bit biased here and suggest British Airways as my current favourite :-)

I have to agree with both of these choices. I only took 1 roundtrip with TWA (in the late 90s--BWI-STL-SEA and back) and we got 2 newly painted (757s, I think) on the BWI-STL segments and flew the Wings of Pride MD-80 back from SEA-STL. Wish I had thought to take pics back then--I was still an #avgeek newbie!

4. Vietnam Airlines (A350-900)
5. Air Canada (new) (787-8)

Honourable mentions:

QantasLink “Discover Tasmania” (717-200)
Pan Am billboard titles (747-200/727-200)
Virgin Australia (737-800)

From the past: The old Varig colors. So classy and striking. There's no mistaking it for anything else.

From the present: Somebody else already mentioned it, but Azerbaijan is my favorite.

Currently? In no particular order: Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air Inuit, Air Belgium, TAAG Angola, Etihad.

But from the past? British Airways' Landor scheme and the one that came before it, hands down my favorite. American Airlines, Alitalia, Western Airlines, and Alaska Airlines are honorable mentions.

I think a TWA pilot was quoted as saying about the arrowhead livery something to the effect of "Even sitting on the ground it looks like it's a rocket!"

When the 747 was first introduced, some airports added jet bridges on the starboard side, such as here at the TWA Flight Center at JFK. I believe the Pan Am Worldport had a few of these as well. On the other hand the IAB built Jetways that could reach the overwing doors on the port side. I guess over time, it was decided that two jetways for the 747 were sufficient.

Since no one mentioned anything about WN, here's my top three favorite liveries of WN:

Heart (my new favorite!):

Canyon Blue (long-time favorite before "Heart"):

Missouri One (I'm a MO flyer!):

Apart from WN, here are other favorites from various airlines of the past and present:

AA (personally loved both of AA's new dynamic and old classic livery):

AS (makes the fleet look younger):

BA (Union Jack livery looks stunning!):

DL (very dynamic-looking with the iconic Widget):

LH (a long-running favorite since the 90s):

NW (long-live the Bowling Shoe livery!):

TW (brings me memories of watching these planes at the STL airport terminal in 2000):

UA (also CO's latest livery):
