Which international routes do you think aircanada will serve in the future?

Hopefully YVR-SIN or YVR-BKK

I could see a seasonal YVR - AKL service in a JV with NZ, to top-up NZ's NW capacity on the route. AKL would tie-in well with AC's Asia-Pacific strategy, being its largest unserved Australasian city (after SYD, MEL and BNE), and given the success of these flights (e.g. MEL now going year-round). They could also get some transfer traffic to Europe and the US, if need be.

YYZ IST to be reinstated in a year or two definitely

They've expanded so much in the last few years it's hard to imagine what is missing. I'm thinking YYZ-somewhere in Africa. Maybe YYZ/YVR to more India/south Asia and more China. For YUL maybe CLE/DTW for additional Europe feed.

At some point Bangkok/Singapore/Manila will need to be considered I suppose.

Where they haven't expanded really at all in recent years is at their major non-hubs focus cities of YHZ, YOW, YWG and YEG (only YEG this past year has gained any new route announcments). The incoming MAX and A223 are the perfect aircraft to undertake that.

I also believe YVR-AKL during winter is a non-brainer for the future. Would be a wise capacity adjustment to balance with TATL flying during Summer season.

Would love to see them back at Rio too, even if winter seasonal only and Rouge operated with night flights YYZ-GIG daylight GIG-YYZ to improve utilization and reduce CAPEX

AC just made YVR-DEL year round daily. That means they fly 2 daily into DEL now.
They could increase service to daily on YYZ-BOM
Can't see them opening any other cities in India due to low yields and lack of demand and you can already connect in DEL/BOM

Definitely agree on YYZ- Africa but how much widely capacity so AC have left?

Exactly - pretty low risk - only needs to be for 3-4 months, plus would immediately fill up based on NZ's existing decade-long presence at YVR (if in an AC-NZ JV).

I am very shocked they dont serve GDL and MTY, surely the numbers can’t be worse than smaller American cities like MCI or SMF?

Specially GDL, its a huge hole in their network.

Air Canada is dying to serve YUL-BEY, but just won't happen.

Defiantly see some short haul expansion with the A220 coming in.

I've got to imagine that recent success in India has AC looking at other markets in the region. I think a YVR-BLR service timed to receive feed from SFO, SJC, and SEA could be a possibility. I would imagine both DAC and CCU have also been looked at ex YYZ.

Perhaps YYZ-CAN?

In peak March Break period, it's an incredible 4 763s and a 319, for over 1200 seats. Almost matches YUL-FLL with its amazing 5 763s daily.

Given that reports have told us that Air Canada has largely completed its international foray for the immediate future, I don't think we'll see much in the way of big network additions. Plus, there are only six more wide-bodies coming online with six expected to leave in the not too distant future. So my predictions are more of a wish list than anything else!

Quite frankly I'm surprised that Air Canada never jumped at the opportunity of CAN. Now that CZ is flying CAN to both YVR and YYZ that might be a missed opportunity. In my opinion AC missed an opportunity to expand HKG (yes I'm aware they now codeshare with CX). AC has been at one daily flight for the last 15+ years. AC should have taken the opportunity to upgrade YVR-HKG to a double daily 789 flight to expand its offering and provide greater connection opportunities to its growing YVR connection bank. Now that CX and HX have upped their flights in this market, I don't see this happening anytime soon.

Nothing new out of YHZ predicted? Maybe Westjet will firm up their Skyteam links and go to AMS.

I can see a couple future max routes from YHZ. YHZ-CDG/FRA in the future. Also would like to see YHZ-YVR/YEG. Very confused why AC hasnt considered the latter given the frequency which WJ operates it.

I through YHZ-FRA was going to happen this past summer as it appeared on the map in enRoute for several months.

More YYZ-east Asia... Lots of flights from Asian carriers to Toronto by AC doesn't seem very interested.

And maybe YYC-Europe or YYC-Asia.

AC seems to have given up on YYC, They have been downsizing for a while now and haven't added anything new.

I think they'll just let WS take over.
