Airports with Free Wi-Fi

Fri Oct 26, 2018 5:43 pm

This week, the PANYNJ announced that immediately it offers free Wi-Fi at its 4 main airports it operates - JFK, LGA, EWR & STF , allowing 'unlimited' use in 4 hour periods and an occasion ad. Until now, they offered mainly a paid service. For many, free Wi-Fi is necessary and useful, thus important to be offered. I recall last year at LHR of taking advantage of free Wi-Fi due to a long wait there as had to drop off my rental car hours before my flight.

What other airports offer free Wi-Fi for all day or for a few hours ?

All AENA airports in Spain offer free wifi. If you are AENA Club (aka preregistered) you don't need to log-in again or fill any stupid questionnaire or watch any video. So every time I go to any airport in Spain my iPhone or my MBP connect directly to the Wifi like when I am at home. I find this particularly useful for the laptop, since you can use Internet just after opening it.

I would be surprised if I went to any airport nowadays and there wasn’t free WiFi. I even got free wife at EVV.

EIN offers free WiFi of course. The last few years I can't remember visiting an airport that doesn't have free WiFi.

STF? I've never heard of that airport. Perhaps you mean SWF Stewart airport.

I'm surprised it took these airports so long to offer free wifi, many others already offered it years ago. They must have been one of the last where the wifi was still a paid service.

It is very good to know that the Airport offers free Wi-Fi at its 4 main airports. One of my friends uses the free wifi at the airport while traveling. While updating the iPhone version an issue iPhone Messages Out of Order arise. But when i try to connect with wifi it shows connection error.

PIT pioneered free Wi-Fi, and it still offers it today. LAX also has free Wi-Fi, though I remember previously it was offered in 45-minute intervals. I don't remember if they've since changed that, but I'll check when I fly back from TLV next week. (I will also check if TLV offers free Wi-Fi, though I believe they do.)

In Asia, MNL offers free Wi-Fi, but only one hour per 24-hour period on either Wi-Fi network (Globe-sponsored or Smart-sponsored). SIN offers free Wi-Fi as well, as does HKG. The Chinese airports offer free Wi-Fi (PVG, CAN and SHA at least), but signing up for it is tricky and often problematic.

In Europe, AMS had one hour of free Wi-Fi (if I'm not mistaken). Same with CDG.

Then again, I rarely use airport Wi-Fi now since roaming is so much better! I have unlimited data roaming on my personal phone, while my work-issued phone has all roaming charges paid for by my company whenever I use data (which is $10/day with AT&T).
