Longest Airbus A321-271NX NEO Routes

Sun Jan 27, 2019 3:03 pm

Airbus makes several "flavors" of its Airbus A321 neo aircraft including ones with extra fuel tanks (I.e, A321XR) and different engines. For the standard model, which I assume is the Airbus A321-271NX NEO, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines:

a) What is the current longest route (in terms of time and nautical miles)?

b) For how long (hours) can the aircraft fly assuming an all-economy configuration of 228 seats? And what does that translate in terms of distance (nautical miles)?

Thank you in advance.

1. Does anyone know if Indigo's A321 NEO is the "ACF" variant which allows for changes in the cabin seat capacity?

2. What is the seat pitch on indigo's A321 NEO?

3. Is there a link to Indigo's A321 NEO seat map? I couldn't find it on SeatGuru and on other sites.

a)looks like BNE-MNL, KEF-ORD, PDL-YYZ, CUN-YVR/YYJ are currently the longest in both time/distance.
b)not sure on that one.

Thanks. Here it is in terms of distance:

BNE-MNL: 3,125 miles
KFE-ORD: 2,550 miles
YYZ- PDL: 2,450 miles
CUN-YVR: 2,400 miles
CUN- YYJ: 2,400 miles

So, it seems like BNE - MNL is the longest route of 3,125 miles.......by the way Indigo Airlines is starting a new route New Delhi to Istanbul which is 2,800 miles which would according to the list above make it the second longest A321 NEO flight! Somehow, this doesn't seem right. Are you sure there are no more flights beyond 2,800 miles other than the BNE-MNL flight?

Who’s flying the 321neo between Vancouver/Victoria and Cancun? AC Rouge does not have NEOs.

Give it time. Im sure once more are delivered we will see more sked out to the 3200nm 8hr Block Time area. Which seems about the longest and comparable to old 757-200 long haul missions.

They have not accepted any NEOs yet. Unless this is a collection of “planned” 321 NEO routes in which case I’ve miss understood what the og poster was interested in.

MNL_SYD is 3,375 miles. I wonder if this involves a load penalty

The 3,200 / 8hr range is a great ballpark and thanks for sharing this information.

Likewise.

That's 3,126nm - absolutely 'up there' in terms of longest regular non - stop flights.

ANA's LCC plans to use A321LR to open routes that are up to 7 hours long, but that's A321LR and they haven't get it yet

Isn't Indigo looking to launch DPS service as well? BOM-DPS would take second at 3,007 and DEL-DPS would top the list at 3,138

Imho many routes for the A321neo will be limited by takeoff performance. I doubt that with 190ish people and bags, you will be able to fill up all 3 ACT's and not be over MTOW or a performance linit on that small 1341 sq ft wing. Which begs the question, why add 3 ACT's if you can't fill them up?

This summer EI is due to fly DUB-MSP first with the 752 but by the end of the season will be an A321. DUB - MSP is 3,735 miles
As of Dec 2018 I've flown 417,862 miles on 250 flights on 51 airplane types with 55 airlines traveling thru 97 airports in 43 countries. I've visited 59 countries. 2019 is looking like a pretty decent year for me.

PR is about to start MNL-DEL which is at 2,579nm (2,968mi) GC...and should traffic warrant it, BOM @ 2,777nm (3,196mi), and restart PER @ 2,791nm (3,211mi). PR's A321Ns have two ACTs and are not densely configured.

Because you assumptions are maybe not right? Check it! Payload with 3 full ACTs is around 18t. Take off performance could also be found. Why guessing if there is puplic data?

PRs A321neo's are 12/156 configuration and are not limited operating BNE-MNL... So this is a lower density aircraft than most will have the A321neo but the aircraft is not restricted operating BNE-MNL. It may be restricted operating SYD-MNL, I am not sure.

Remember that the A321 has a unique double-slotted flap design for improved takeoff performance. It's no A319 but it does just fine. The wing size is more of an issue with respect to cruise altitude with a heavy load than it is at takeoff.

Just to give you an example from an airline I know, AS has been flying their A321neos with no restrictions on DCA-LAX, a route that can be 2500+ nm ESAD, from a 7100 ft runway. It's quite impressive and the -900/9 MAX can't match it.

Does anyone know how many ACTs Indigo’s aircraft have? Does the aircraft type number (271NX) give any indication?

ACTs are not mentioned in the plane. Out of the (271NX):

    The 2 is for -200 (all A321neos)
The 7 is PW engines, (CFM is 5, eg 251NX)
The 1 is the engine number or thrust rating. Likely , if not already, to be 272/273 which idicates improved engines or lower/higher thrust (There are 251 and 253 of the CFM engines
NX is the door configuration. 4 normal doors (like A321ceo) has no mention of NX. The three normal doors (blocked or not like TK) and two over-wings (again can be blocked like BA) are listed with NX after.
