Would anyone have a clue about these missing registrations? I surely struggle finding any information, mainly because they're all from the 90's.

- 06 AUG 1995: IAD-CDG, United Airlines B747-100 (or -200), arriving in CDG on 07 AUG 1995
- 04 AUG 1996: SDQ-MIA, AA1510, B727-200
- 06 APR 1999: AKL-LAX, QF101, B747-400
- 10 NOV 1998: CDG-SIN, AF256, A340-?00 (according my log it was a A340-200, but I wish to have it confirmed)

How sure are you that this is a 747-400? I think at that point in history, Qantas used the 747-300 on the MEL-AKL-LAX route, with the 747-400s mostly flying direct out of Sydney and Brisbane.

I wish it was a B743, but I do have an inflight picture that shows a winglet, therefore I assume my AKL-LAX flight was operated by a B744.

Hi, I am looking for a couple of very important flights, and I would be very appreciative if someone could help me find them.

QF21 (SYD-NRT) - 19/02/2003
QF168 (NRT-CNS-BNE) - 26/02/2003, second leg 27/02/2003
NZ139 (AKL-BNE) - 29/09/2005

I really hope someone out there has any information! :)

I hope no one minds the bump, but I have been a long time reader on the site and have recently tried to track down the registrations on my 2000+ flights. I have had a lot of success through different sources (flightera.net, flightaware, US DOT), but there are a bunch that I am still missing that fall into a few categories (2009 intl, regional jets, random international that I could find on ACARSD, older than 2005 international). Can anyone help with a few of the following?

Delta 201 JNB-ATL leaving JNB 7 Jun 2009
Finnair 5 HEL-JFK 27 May 2009
Finnair 166 LED-HEL 27 May 2009
American 158 ORD-DME 23 May 2009
Cathay Pacific 883 LAX-HKG 9 May 2009 (left at 2350 local time)
American 953 MIA TGU 2 May 2009
American 918 LIM MIA 27 Apr 2009 (diverted back to LIM and then went back to MIA)
Lan 531 JFK LIM 24 Apr 2009
AA 110 ORD FCO 9 Apr 2009
AA 982 SCL MIA 15 Mar 2009
DL 338 GDL ATL 1 Feb 2009
AA/AE 3849 DFW GDL 29 Jan 2009
OS 461 VIE LHR 25 Jan 2009 (could not find on LHR-LGW)
AA 950 GIG GRU and AA 962 GRU DFW on 2 Nov 2008
AA 905 MIA GIG on 31 Oct 2008
AA 964 EZE ORD on 17 Aug 2008
AA 997 DFW EZE on 15 Aug 2008

Also, if anyone has a trick to look up US regional carrier tail numbers from 2010-2014 that would help me as I have a bunch of regional flights that I cannot find on DOT or flightaware (even using the trick of entering in the departure time with Z). An example is Delta 5884 on 13 May 2012 from SAV to LGA.

[quote="Einheitsdesign"][quote="aschachter"]Hi All,

And one quick update - I found the DL SAV-LGA flight on an Acarsd file, but I am really struggling to find Delta shuttle flights between LGA and DCA/BOS in 2011-2012.

Any tips?

Here my findings:

N386AA B763 AA 0657 20090410 AA0110 ORD-FCO [england]

Cathay Pacific 883 LAX-HKG 9 May 2009 (left at 2350 local time) Should be B-HOO when the registered time is UTC S. Acars
B-HOO B744 CX 0949 20090510 CX0883 LAX-HKG [Oakland[3] CA, US]

American 158 ORD-DME 23 May 2009 N393AN S. Acars

DL 338 GDL ATL 1 Feb 2009 N982DL S. Acars KATL
N982DL  (MD88 DAL) 1216 20090201 DL0338

Regarding DL5884: You have to search with the ICAO code of the operating airline instead of the ICAO of Delta. When you search for TCF5884 you wil find the flight. on Flightaware. This applies also for UA Express flights.

Regarding your DCA/BOS/LGA you will maybe find some regs on the following page

Acars was tracked in Ladysmith Canada. If the plane has not changed in SFO then AS0258 was SEA-SFO-PVR

Aug 9, 2003 AS 297 PVR-SFO
When the same applies as for AS0258 (only that the route is PVR-SFO-SEA) then the reg should be the following

That's what I had always figured for those Alaska flights. I just never really knew if the planes changed in SFO.

That is really cool that you found those flight numbers. Don't think I've ever seen those before. Where did you come across that?

I checked it on other days in July and August 2003 where I found logs from Ladysmith and Los Angelas and sometime the plane had not changed and sometimes it changed, so that finding is unfortunately not vaild.

I found it via wayback on the historic webpage from Skyservice.

Einheitsdesign - you are amazing. Thanks for all the help and figuring out the decoding on flightaware. It helped me find a bunch more registrations although a few of these still did not have an n-number. Could I try out a few more flights to see if I get a few more tails identified?

How sure are you about the flightnumber or routing or date? I didn't find FCO-ATH with that flightnumber on this date. According to Acrars AZ675 was GRU-FCO.

I have three tail numbers of US Airways flights missing and for some reason I can't seem to figure them out even on the BTS database - can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Is it because two of them are international and the other is a regional subsidiary? I did a search for the regional carrier to no avail - if anyone could help me I'd be very happy.

These would be the flights:
US701 FRA-PHL on an A332, March 17 2013
US3239 PHL-RDU on an E175 (operated by Republic), March 19 2013
US706 CLT-FRA on an A333, April 8-9 2013

You are right! It is AZ 722 from FCO-ATH on 10 Apr 2009. A few more (if you don't mind) and then a question from problem solving:

Flights:
LA 533 on 29 Jul 2012 JFKSCL
LA 503 on 22 Jul 2012 MIA SCL
LA 500 on 11 Jul 2012 and 5 Jul 2012 (Both are SCL MIA)
AA 996 on 19 May 2008 EZE DFW
DL 109 on 30 Jul 2001 MAD ATL
DL 100 on 21 Dec 2001 on EZE - ATL and DL 101 on 19 Dec on ATL-EZE
DL 127 on 3 Jul 2004 MAD JFK
DL 5031 (operated by Endeavor) on 3 Nov 2014 (I can find on flightaware but there is no registration)

For the ones from above that are missing (e.g. the BOG-MIA on 24 Nov 2007). I think I traced the plane into and out of MIA (it came from SCL on 23 Nov on AA 912 and then later went back to SCL on AA 957 on 24-Nov. My problem is that AA flew too 767-300ERs into Santiago at that time (one from DFW and one from MIA) and they sat all day remotely. I cannot tell if the DFW-SCL plane goes back to DFW or goes to MIA instead. I have trouble figuring out this which limits my ability to trace further.

Yes, you are right. BTS don't track international flights and also some regional airlines have not reported to BTS so that their information are missing

Wow, thank you!!! That's amazing, great to finally know at least those two tail numbers.

And pretty interesting too, I got the oldest one out of their A330-200 subfleet and one of the younger -300s.

Tue Oct 26, 2021 5:24 am

Trying to find the tail number of a US Airways flight on 7/9/2010 (9th July 2010!) from Philadelphia to Frankfurt. It was an A330-300. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Unfortunately I din't find much

DL 127 on 3 Jul 2004 MAD JFK N1608
S. OTT Spotters

LA 533 on 29 Jul 2012 JFK SCL 2000 0655

For this flight I can't say for sure which tail number is the correct one.

2012-07-28 LA0530 SCL-LIM-JFK 2015 0900 CC-CRV LA0530 12-07-29 06:58
2012-07-28 LA0532 SCL-JFK 2050 0740 CC-BDD LA0532 12-07-29 05:50

2012-07-29 LA0533 JFK-SCL 2000 0655
2012-07-29 LA0531 JFK-LIM-SCL 2305 0600

I checked a lot dates before and after 29.07.2012 and in the most cases the rotation was LA530/531 and LA532/533 but not always.

Sorry that I couldn't help more.

Thank you so much! I did not have the flight number to narrow it down between these two options. However, I flew from PHX to PHL to connect with this flight on US N941UW, which arrived in PHL at around 18:28, so I could not have been on the first option you found and therefore must have been on the second. Really appreciate your help.

Dear Einheitsdesign,

Thanks so much as I've been following this topic for a while. It has helped a lot as I've gradually filled the gaps.
Now only a few cold cases, of 3 buckets in general, early dates, missed ACARS (2009-2012) and regional airlines.

Here I post a few which would appreciate your help on finding the remaining reg#s. These are the ones still missed after I checked various sources.

Date, Flight#, From-To, Aircraft Type (if known)
10 Aug 1998, 3Q4542 SHA-KMG B767-300
26 Jun 2009, SC4664(?) SHA-TAO B737
07 Aug 2009, NW90 PVG-DTW B747-400
04 Jan 2010, NW3510 AUS-MEM (perhaps operated by regional airlines)

20 May 2011, KA804, HKG-PVG, A330-300
04 Nov 2011, MU588, JFK-PVG, A340-600

16 May 2012, MF8502, SHA-XMN, B737-800
18 May 2012, MF8587, XMN-HSN, B737

13 Nov 2013, CA422, PEK-CTU, A320
14 Feb 2014, US2885, LGA-CLT (perhaps operated by regional airlines)

There are quite few ones Asia-related, relatively difficult.
Since Feb 2014, I've been keeping complete records.
Thanks again.

18 July 2006, NH921 NRT-PVG
6 September 2006, NH960 PVG-NRT
7 September 2006, NH10 NRT-JFK
15 March 2007, DL243 ATL-CUN
19 March 2007, DL320 CUN-ATL
26 June 2010, MU588 JFK-PVG
27 June 2010, MU??? PVG-HKG, very late at night, can also be very early in the morning of 28 June
4 July 2010, FM??? PVG-DYG, night time departure
9 July 2010, CZ??? DYG-NKG, night time departure
6 July 2015, MU??? CTU-PVG, early morning departure.

Also, do you have regional jet departures not in the BTS data?

Ah ok. I tried looking for Delta Connection flights in the BTS data but they weren't showing up because the email receipts that I have show Delta flight numbers and departures don't show for airlines like Comair. Also, how do you open the data files from the LHR archive?

Thank you ! I remember it was either A330 or A340 family aircraft and hoping it was the A343. Alas, guess I won't have the chance to fly A343 after all the retirements all over the world.

Could you also find out if it was the A330 on 4th April 2013 DOH-BLR ?

Yes, I know that this an issue with BTS that a lot regional carriers dont have data. I don't know in which area you are looking but if some flight were in Baltimore/Washington DC Area maybe this page can help you: http://www.lockonaviation.net/html/acars.php

LHR logs I open with MS Edge

Any chance finding out the QR aircraft type / tail number for BLR-DOH on 30th March 2013 ?

QR0227 BRL-DOH A7-AEG

Thank you ! I remember it was either A330 or A340 family aircraft and hoping it was the A343. Alas, guess I won't have the chance to fly A343 after all the retirements all over the world.

Could you also find out if it was the A330 on 4th April 2013 DOH-BLR ?

I'm happy that I don't collect aircraft types but airlines. The only time that I booked a flight to get an aircraft (and of course to catch the airline) were two flights with Motor Sich to catch an Antonov AN-24 (was 48 years old) :D Unfortunately both flights were on the same aircraft UR-47297.

And of course the requested reg:

Thank you so much again! I have done some sleuthing using Flightstats and old Acars data to identify a few different tails including the ones I posted. I cannot be 100% certain but i found a few. I still have a few more if you can help:

Either Delta 92 (ICN-ATL) on 6 Jun 2009 or Delta 200 (ATL-JNB) on 6 Jun 2009. Based on arrival departure gates, this plane turns into the one I want on 7 Jun 2009 (Delta 201)

Delta 65 on 31 Dec 2001 (MAN-ATL)

EY418 on 25 Nov (left at 240AM local time) on AUH - KUL. I think it is A6-ETB based on a picture but it could also be A6-ETD

AF 1970 on 17 Oct 2004 (LHR-CDG) - I can't find it on LHR/LGW
AF 1571 on 15 Oct 2004 (CDG-LHR) - same as above

OZ 318 on 9 Mar 2009 (TAO-ICN)

DL 463 on 29 Dec 2005 (ATL-YVR) and DL 464 on 30 Dec (YVR-ATL redeye)

FR 9156 on 30 May 2006 (SDR-CIA)

NZ 15 on 14 Jul 2002 (LAX-SYD) and NZ14 on 4 Aug 2002 (SYD-LAX)

JL 745 on 15 Mar 2008 (NRT-MNL)

DL 100 on 21 Dec 2001 and DL 101 on 19 Dec 2001
DL 100 on 9 Jun 2002 and DL 101 6 Jun 2001

DL 109 on 30 Jul 2001 (MAD-ATL)
DL 108 on 27 Jun 2001 (ATL-MAD)

DL 5426 (operated by ExpressJet) on 6 Oct 2014 (ATL-YUL)

How sure are you about the flightnumber or routing or date? I didn't find FCO-ATH with that flightnumber on this date. According to Acrars AZ675 was GRU-FCO.

I guess collecting airlines would be even more ambitious after some time. I think Swiss will still fly the A343 for couple more years, hope the pandemic is over soon so that I can plan :) Motor Sich seems interesting, will keep it in my mind when I visit Ukraine.
