Pan Am and Eastern.....One World, Sky Team or Star??

Sat Mar 02, 2019 1:00 pm

I was just wondering...had the original Pan Am and Eastern survived in good financial health, for a few more years and into the big alliances era, which one do you all think they'd join, and why???

Dinosaur Alliance...together with Braniff, PeoplExpress, Mexicana, VARIG, VIASA, Ansett, Malév and Air Berlin. Alitalia, South African Airways, Air India and a couple of Nigerian airlines would be associate members.

Not another one!!!

Quite how anyone is supposed to answer this with any logic I do not know.
Both folded several years before the alliances were founded.

You could argue for 1000 different outcomes but we'll never know.

The only scenario's this makes any sense in is if we consider a combined PA/NW (merger fell through in 1989) or a combined EA/TW (often thought to be logical merger partners). Then maybe it's worth rolling the dice and speculating, but otherwise it is not.

AntonioMartin, what difference does it make?

How about Trans Texas Airways, or Mohawk, or West Coast, or . . .

LOL. Though getting serious, Ansett was a founding Star Alliance member.
Essendon - Whatever it takes......

Quoting NameOmitted (Reply # 7), "PanAm WAS its own alliance."

No, it really wasn't.
An alliance implies some form of connectivity and traffic feed between multiple companies.
Pan Am had very little, if any, traffic feed from the domestic market to its international gateways.

That is true, and one of the reasons Pan Am is no longer...
