Chances of Moving Seats?

Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:47 pm

Alright, I have four flights... and more to be booked this summer. On my legs departing LA we're on AA in Basic Economy and we have already received seating assignments and I can say they are quite crap. But I have hopes that the loads will be low enough on the PHX-LHR route... but of course, I must ask what would the chances be on such a new route? Also on LAX-PHX since it's a frequent flight with a higher amount of travellers.
Well uh, I obviously decided to refine this but i dont know how.

Go to ''Manage my bookings'' on the airlines website and change your seats yourself, there might be charge for this but it's doable.

If he’s basic economy is that only doable within 48 hours of the flight?

By which point the flights may be heavily sold with aisle and window seats taken.

Hence his question about the likelihood of the flights filling up?

Is the AA PHX-LHR flight booked as a BA code share flight? In the past, even if in basic economy I have been able to choose my seats on AA operated flights as long as it is booked as a BA code share flight.

No it's the new AAL flight operated on a 772 from AA instead of the BA 744 sadly.

While I have not checked, I am pretty sure that there will be a BA code share flight number on the AA operated PHX-LHR flight as they are both in a JV.

With AA Basic Economy on flights to Europe, you can pay a fee to choose your own seats any time during or after buying your tickets. https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/exp ... conomy.jsp

Why not just call the airline's reservation line and request them to make changes where possible.....I've done it many times and it usually works if done well in advance....
