Why does JetBlue have a retro livery?

Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:00 am

It just comes off as desperate and a "hey I can do that too" image. First of all, that retro livery never existed. Someone in marketing dreamed it up. Secondly, JetBlue isn't even 20 years old yet but if they just had to have a retro-jet then why not use the first version of their livery? It makes it hard to support them when they pull dumb stunts like this.

Wow quite an aggressive post! You wanna provide a photo link so the rest of the planet knows what you are talking about?

JetBlue is not the only company to come up with a throwback/retro design from before their existence. The Tampa Bay Rays debuted "fauxback" uniforms in 2012 depicting a 1970's look, despite the fact the team's inaugural season was 1998 Image

I think the designs are sharp and they allow for a creative outlet by the airline. If you're speaking in terms of practicality, no special liveries make sense. But I think we all agree special liveries add some much-needed flavor to the skies. Just consider this to be another special livery for JetBlue with old-fashioned cheatlines. If it really bothers you, write them a letter.

Actually, I love it - so thank you for bringing it to our attention!

Really well thought out livery and I love the attention to detail in the branding.
...love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again...

I agree with you 100%
I believe JetBlue salvaged and displays a light up National Airlines Sun King sign inside their headquarters which
was originally in the Sundrome (JFK T6) until the building was demolished.
Now wouldn't that be an awesome retro livery to see?

It's fun, and Jetblue's marketing team really paid attention to small details. I like it!
Despite the OP's threat, not a single passenger is going to pass up a flight because its "dumb".

Good Job!
