As for the DC10 I don’t think I need to explain that one too much.

The PRM1. An ugly stubby bizjet with engines too small for its size.

CRJ series and 50 seat ERJ. Feels cramped and claustrophobic. Plus the overhead bins are far too small - even my bagpack can't fit.
737MAX - has an inherently unstable design

Air Baltic never had ATRs and there never was a 42-500 combi (not to mention, ATR combi's put the cargo in the front third, not rear).

Either you were on a Fokker 50 (ex-Air Baltic) or you were mistaken about the former operator of the aircraft and you were on a rattly and noisy old 4-bladed 42-300/320 (those are really noisy).

This. I make darn sure I have my earplugs with me whenever I fly on one of those. Just deafening and such an enormous contrast with AB widebodies. When it comes to economics, Boeing is king. But for ergonomics they have a long way to go, even the 789 was a disappointning experience.

In my opinion, there is no such "least favourite aircraft type"! Only "least favourite airline" - a B767 can be wonderful, but if you have 3-4-3 seating it's a nightmare, same goes to the A330 with a 3-3-3 configuration.

I don't think 3-4-3 is physically possible on the 767! :D

But I agree, 2-4-2 on the 767 and 3-3-3 on the A330 are dreadful but 2-3-2 on the 767 is great.

BUT the CRJ (especially 200) is a dreadful, dreadful aircraft. Cramped and with no space for any luggage.

My bad - sk1257, SAS. (mixed up my airlines, sorry!) It was a strange layout for me, this was my first atr flight. There was a large section in front that looked like it was walled off with a small passageway for crew, I thought it was a combi. ES-ATD, I think. I may be misremembering but it was the 5th of March this year, if you have Flightradar24 subscription you can correct me on this. Definitely not a Fokker.

Edit: do my homework, it was an ATR 72, not 42. Whoops! The noise and vibration obviously conspiring to give me brain damage!!! :D

I mean, it's not like I wrote it in my signature or anything! (Oh yes I did, all I had to do was look down)

That makes more sense! I actually flew ES-ETD 2 weeks ago myself.

The trick with ATRs (and probably all turboprops) is to sit as far back as possible. The rear of the -72 is less noisy than a 737 ;)

The big cargo door up in the front is for the standard forward cargo bay fitted to almost all ATRs. Very convenient. Also makes it attractive for cargo and combi conversions, since you already have a massive door!

Small world! :) Many thanks for the explanation, the image is broken but I'll take your word for it. I find the Q400 much quieter and can sit anywhere I like, so more fool me for not doing my homework.

CRJ-200 and -700. I find the -900 is okay, at least better than its smaller siblings. I like the ERJ's if I can grab an A seat; otherwise, I'm not a fan. I was never a fan of the Saab 340s. As for larger jets, while I try to avoid it, because of my home airport (MCI), Delta's 737-900ER is sometimes unavoidable, and I have found I don't like flying in the Main Cabin. AA's 319 was no picnic a couple of months ago MCI-PHX and the return.

Totally agree, I always dread flying the 787 because I feel so squeezed in. Last year I flew AA from LHR-CLT on the A330 then returned ORD-LHR 5 days later on the 787 and the difference was huge. In business the 787 was the best because of the massive window. I have never flown the 777 in 10 abreast, always seems to be 9 or premium cabins, I have a feeling that as soon as I experience a 10 abreast 777 ni ecnomy that will become my new worst plane then maybe one day I'll experience a x9 A330 or a x 10 A350 and then all bets are off.

I also agree on the CR2, I get cramps in my neck after 10 mins (maybe if I wasn't an av geek I wouldn't be twisting so bad to look out the weird height windows).

Another vote for the E145 series. They are very cramped and there is not enough overhead carryon luggage space. CRJ series is a close second, for the reasons many stated: cramped, horrible thinly padded seating, not enough overhead carryon luggage space.

All boeing narrowbodies + the 787 a.k.a. "Crampliner". Worst ride on a widebody I've ever had.

CR-200 on any airline. Temperature control is poor. Window position is too low.
A319. AA's Y seating is terrible.

Highly dependent but the plane I completely avoid is the CRJ200. American a few years ago would send only CRJ's between New York and Columbus which is what I fly the most it was hell schlepping to the airport to get the super early morning 6 AM American flight to LGA only to see a CR2 at the gate.

I will go for the CRJ as well. Them in the back are no fun. But a middle seat on A320 during summer time in the evening is also a nice experience. You get some nice fragrances on top...

The only issue on the rudder on the A300 was the pilot who broke the tail off the airplane with excessive rudder inputs. There were no modifications to the rudder system, or any other system, as a result of this crash iirc.

The SW Metroliner. They don’t call it the San Antonio Sewer Pipe for nothing. Flew on those between MCO and PBI. That’s about as far as I would recommend anybody to travel on one.

Don't know if I outright hate an aircraft type, but I hate how certain airlines configure certain aircraft types.

I'll probably fly on one one day, but the MAX 8 isn't in my favorite category at the moment for obvious reasons.

As a pilot, I've loved every aircraft that I've ever flown, but the worst plane that I've ever worked on was the 737NG. Best description that a colleague of mine ever gave was that it was a plane designed by 2 year olds with legos.

CRJ-200s are awful. I hate them. Cityjet's (Although now operated under the Aer Lingus brand) six-abreast Avro RJ85 is pretty cramped as well. 787 is the worst widebody you can still regularly fly on. I don't mind the 737 but AA's MAX is to be avoided.

The LET 410 is not a good experience, noisy and every time I flew on one with Citywing there was an exceptionally hard landing. The Britten Norman Islander is a novelty but when you have to fly on one multiple times for work the novelty very soon wears off. Saab 340 is another one to avoid.

Your fear is not based on any facts. Only one A300 crashed when the tail came off, and this was caused by the pilots making ridiculously large, and unnecessary rudder inputs. B737 has crashes due to rudder design faults, not the A300.

Super unpopular opinion: I can’t stand the DC-9 or MD-80 series. I would almost take a CR2 over it. I think I’m the only person so happy to see them all retiring.
I also cannot stand AA’s 9-abreast 787. I took one from DFW-ICN and that was my most miserable 15 hours in the air EVER.
