BA LHR-MAD-LHR on the 777

Wed Jul 17, 2019 6:12 pm

Some flights are on the T7 and wondered if they use the Club World cabin for the Club Europe service?

I have flown J on a 789 on this route and was in the Club World cabin. Was great. Obviously not the full dining offering but nice to be able to stretch out for 2 hours.

Well they could use the Premium Economy cabin (assuming a 4-class 777), or they could even use the front of the Economy cabin with middle seats blocked out, which would be analogous to their short-haul Club Europe product. This is British Airways after all, I don’t think people would be surprised.

But in fact they do use the Club World cabin for J bookings on this route. I believe they make huge money from belly cargo on those flights so can afford to be generous with the space. Note that it isn’t possible to buy First tickets, even if the seats are on the plane, they are blocked out.

@LCY55Approach
Pls. correct me if I am wrong, but I never ever heard of any airline in the world, selling BusinessClass tickets and than keeping the BusinessClass blocked... I guess the FC seats will only become available in a case of overbooking, right?! Other airlines do much better, selling the FC seats on flights without F as normal BusinessClass for a supplement, but with the same service as in Business (like LH does).

Have flown this route a few times in CE on 777 & 789. The Club World cabin absolutely gets used for Club Europe bookings. A good way to experience this long haul seat/cabin. No pillows/blankets/IFE but full meal service of course. One time having booked in Y I was able to select seats in Y+ which is also nice. Some BA Golds actually get put into F cabin - result !!
