Multi-Airport-Cities: Which have you landed/departed at more than one airport?

Fri Jul 26, 2019 4:40 am

Another of this survey threads (I Like them :). List all multi-airport cities and the their respective airports, you have already flown to/from at least two different commercial airports. It doesn't have to be exactly the same city, but the airports must serve basically the same area. So for example Kobe Airport, Osaka Itami and Osaka Kansai serve all the same Kansai-region or New York JFK, LGA and EWR all serve NYC and is considered same city. What I would not count in is some strange marketing names like "Franfurt-Hahn"or "Munich-West", where the airports are located more than 100km from "their" cities.

Bonus question: has anyone managed to fly to or from all six London airports?

My list:
Kuala Lumpur 2/2: KLIA KUL and Subang SZB
London 3/6: Heathrow LHR, City LCY and Stansted STN (missing: Luton, Gatwick, Southend)
Moscow 3/3: Sheremetyevo SVO, Domodedovo DME and Vnukovo VKO (I won't count in Bykovo, which has been operational at times I have been in Moscow, but isn't anymore)
Tokyo 2/2: Haneda HND and Narita NRT
Osaka 2/3: Kansai KIX and Itami ITM (missing: Kobe)
New York 2/3: Kennedy JFK and Newark EWR (missing: La Guardia)

New York: EWR, LGA, JFK

Despite not being in the same city I have also flown out of MTL & CES, which have a shorter distance between them then all the airports aforementioned.

This week I flew in to YYZ on Monday and out of YHM on Wednesday. Toronto and Hamilton aren't the same city, but they are both in the Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario.

Archerfield and Bankstown. I used to fly between them fairly regularly, though if private doesn’t count, fair enough.

But together these cities form a multi-city metro area. It's easy if you have to be in one city to use the airport of the next city as it's all easily within driving distance from each other.

Another example of such a multi-city metro area is Dubai / Sharjah. They might be in different emirates, but they're built against each other and so it's easy to use Sharjah airport if you have to be in Dubai or the other way around.

And isn't Miami / Fort Lauderdale / West Palm Beach a multi-city metro area as well?

Only including ones from which I took scheduled services:
New York: EWR, JFK, LGA
Orlando: SFB, MCO
Washington: DCA, IAD, BWI
Chicago: MDW, ORD
London: LHR, SEN, LCY, LTN, LGW, STN (All six!)
Beijing: NAY, PEK
Shanghai: SHA, PVG
Dallas: DFW, DAL
Houston: IAH, HOU
Las Vegas: LAS, VGT, BLD
Berlin: SXF, TXL
Belfast: BHD, BFS

St. Louis: STL, BLV
Phoenix: PHX, AZA
Tokyo: HND, NRT
Taipei: TSA, TPE
Toronto: YYZ, YTZ
Vancouver: YVR, CXH
Victoria: YYJ, YWH

These I am not sure should count as cities, but have been mentioned by some others:
LA: LAX, ONT, LGB, SNA, BUR
Bay Area: OAK, SFO, SJC
Greater Bay Area: CAN, SZX, MFM, HKG, HUZ, ZUH
South Florida: MIA, FLL
Southwest Florida: APF, RSW

New York: EWR, JFK, and LGA, although EWR has only ever been for connections.
SF Bay Area: SFO and OAK on commercial flights, SJC on the Intel corporate shuttle
Washington: IAD and BWI
If we're counting Miami-Ft. Lauderdale as a single metro area: FLL and MIA.

If we can count private flights from airports that lack scheduled commercial passenger flights, then:
Sacramento: SMF, MHR (Intel shuttle), and SAC (EAA Ford Tri-Moror experience)
Portland, OR: PDX and HIO (Intel shuttle)
