Around the world on the A380

Fri Aug 09, 2019 6:58 am

Interesting in possible itineraries for an
RTW trip exclusively by A380

I imagine this is possible changing between
different carriers ?

Do you want to hit every continent once?

If so, I don't think that's possible with U.S. to South America? And the only A380 route to SA is DXB-GRU on EK?

That’s not necessary, departing from the US and returning to the same airport is the objective

I like that, except I’d avoid a big dogleg
and just go to DXB from LHR

Interested in other, faster possibilities,
starting from JFK

SQ25 JFK-FRA 20:55-10:40 (+1)
OZ542 FRA-ICN 18:30-11:50 (+1)
KE85 ICN-JFK 19:30-21:00
total: 48:05 hrs

EK202 JFK-DXB 23:00-19:45 (+1)
EK322 DXB-ICN 03:40-16:55
KE85 ICN-JFK 19:30-21:00
total travel time: 46:00 hrs

AF9 JFK-CDG 23:55-13:10 (+1)
KE902 CDG-ICN 21:00-15:00 (+1)
KE85 ICN-JFK 19:30-21:00
total travel time: 45:05 hrs

EY100 JFK-AUH 22:55-20:00 (+1)
EY876 AUH-ICN 22:00-11:35
KE85 ICN-JFK 19:30-21:00
total travel time: 46:05 hrs

Note: I can't seem to find any A380 morning arrivals into Seoul that would connect to the 10am OZ/11am KE flights ICN-JFK, so KE85 was pretty much chosen by default when going in the easterly direction. ;)
Thus, someone might be able to find better times westbound if he looks at the same routes but in the other direction.
Nothing compares to taking off in an empty 757 with full thrust!
