One of the main reasons is that it serves other markets than just London, unlike Heathrow. Cambridge is the main one.
SAS have also flown to Stansted before, so it seemed like the obvious choice to return.
OSL is only during a few weeks during the school holiday. It frees up a SAIL A320Neo from LHR to AGP to operate holiday flights.
The one CPH flight and the GOT flights (which are completely gone now) were moved to STN after SAS sold two slots at LHR

Pretty sure Heathrow also serves more than just London.
Reading, and Oxford are the obvious examples of many.
Yes, STN does serve Cambridge - but Cambridge is a very small market. Sure there’s the university, tourism, and tech. But it’s still a small market. Even throwing in Suffolk and North Essex.
LGW which is also very accessible for Brighton, Surrey, and Kent has a much more populated catchment area than STN.
