150 million passengers per year, 21 billion euro revenue, 60.000 employees, a giant airline for a capillary network in USA and international flights.
In USA the panorama is different from Europe: the three major airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines, have their own regional brands: Delta Connection (218 airplanes), United Airlines Express (242 airplanes), American Eagle (417 airplanes). These regional airlines are not low cost but compete with Southwest in domestic, point-to-point connections, something not existing in Europe.
My question is: what do you think would happen if Ryanair (in Europe) and Southwest (in USA) would fail? Of course i hope this never will happen, but i am sure there would be a total chaos, especially here in Europe.

crazy wrote:In Europe, when Ryanair decide to serve an airport, about 1/1.5 million initial passengers are planned: something great for each airport, especially small and regional ones. So an eventual demise would it not only the passengers but also the airports and everything all around them.

Ryanair in Europe and Southwest in USA, two giants of civil aviation world.
Ryanair has 450 B737-800WL in fleet, Southwest 750 airplanes among B737-700WL and B737-800WL and both are low cost airlines. Maybe it is better to call them ultra-low cost airlines because their organization is "slim", essential, without redundancy and they try to gain money with everything, from the baggages excess inches to inflight lottery.
