Avianca A318 service from BOG – which destinations?

Mon Nov 25, 2019 1:15 pm

Next week, I'm on my first First Class trip with Lufthansa to Bogota and back. While I am there, doing "tourist stuff", I'd also like to take the opportunity to get a flight an A318 for my statistics. Still missing that one and I thought Avianca and BOG would be a good opportunity. It must be on the 6th or 7th of December, as my return flight departs on 7th at 9PM. So either a direct turnaround or one night at the destination. Technically, a late departure on 5th is also possible, as my activities on that day are only planned until early afternoon.

Anyway, my problem is, I can not find a SINGLE A318-flight for those dates from or to Bogota. For other dates I've found flights for example Medellin or Cartagena, but on those specific days, I am unable to find anything flown by A318. Will they already be gone by December or am I just unlucky with their booking tool? Has anyone an idea, where the A318s are used in the Avianca-network?

I am aware, that aircraft change is possible any time, but regardless I'd like to book a flight there.

Flight Radar 24 is your answer. Look up their fleet of A318s then start clicking on tail numbers to see what sectors and flights they are flying.

If AV is not an option on your LH trip, you can hop over to either LHR or OTP and fly a Tarom A318 on that segment., or any other A318 segment. Do the same thing I suggested with LH and see where they're flying.

FR24 doesn't really help, as I did look up a few flights for the past weeks. But those flights are not operated by A318s on the days I am planning the trip. It seems kinda random, when which plane is in use, therefore I was asking here, if anybody has more details.

Neither BA, nor TAROM is currently an alternative, as I am not planning to visit either UK or Romania in the next few months. Avianca was just a good opportunity as I am in Columbia anyway.

I've just checked the OAG schedule and no A318 flights loaded during that week :grumpy:

AV would of course be the most convenient option, but maybe AF is a good alternative to you. I see them here in ZRH every day.

Too bad. Maybe AF will be a valid alternative at some point. In January I will work next to the Luxembourg and French border. I Could try to get a flight with a connection from ETZ or LUX to TLS and do a tour through the Airbus assembly lines while I have the opportunity. Could also combine this with a ERJ145, which is also missing in my statistics.

Thanks for the help!
