Is BA009 (LHR-BKK) going to be operated by the B789 sometime soon? If so, when?

Thu Jan 09, 2020 10:26 am

I read on here that BA were going to swap the B772 with the B789 on the BA009 route (LHR-BKK). Is this true and if so, when? I'm planning on flying this route mid-December 2020.

Thanks

For the UK Summer? So it would be from, say, June 30th until end of September? Does this mean I won't get on it if I travel in December 2020?

Sorry for all the questions!

I think yes, but try to simulate some bookings on the flight each month and see if the aircraft type change

I just did a dummy booking on ba.com for a return trip to BKK in December 2020 and it is showing a 777 on both legs.

It's indeed a seasonal change and it will return back to the 777 for the winter schedule.
I only don't know which 777 version this will be, 3-3-3 (old 772 version) or 3-4-3 (new high density version) economy class layout.

BA9 is always operated by a G-YMM* variant 77E with the prehistoric PTVs and old 3-3-3 non-slimline seats.

That is correct but it’s unclear which 777 variant will return to this route after the summer schedule.
And the non-slimline seats are much more comfortable then the new slimline seats.

Just do a dummy booking and look at the seatmap. Currently shows a 3 class 777 (old configuration).

Thanks I will do that,
I thought that the old 772 would be retired or upgraded to the new high density configuration.
Although I don’t hope so :-)
