Why no flight from Wick to Glasgow, but there is from Wick to Aberdeen and Edinburgh? You'd think there would be demand to Glasgow too, no?

Glasgow and Edinburgh are close enough to get one of the frequent trains in between the two cities.

theres not enough pax to justify both. Wick figures were down from EDI recently.

But they're two separate destinations. Appreciate they're close, but isn't that a hassle to land in one and have to get a 1 hour train to the other?

I had no idea there was an airport in Wick! You taught me something today.

If the airline doesn't have enough airplanes to operate both destinations, they have to choose one. In this case they've decided EDI is better return.

Edinburgh is the capital, and therefore local councillors and politicians will be moving back and forward frequently between the two. Likewise to London via onward connections.

Beyond that, there's just no reason to go to Glasgow, and if anyone does need to, they can use the train from just outside Edinburgh airport.

In my flight log from September 1972 I have a flight logged from WIC-ABZ-EDI-GLA on a Viscout. I remember the plane was in BOAC colours and after GLA was bound for PIK.

I was on a camping trip to Orkney and Shetland and flew up to Shetland GLA-INV-WIC-KOI-LSI on a BEA Viscount. Then flew down LSI-KOI-WIC with the intention of hiking down to Glasgow from Wick. No lifts and so ended up walking back to the airport of Wick and buying tickets down to Glasgow.

Loved those huge windows on the Viscounts on which I made a total of 58 flights!!!.

Don’t recall GLA-WIC in the 30 years I have been following them. There’s also no ILY/BEB/CAL-EDI either. Loganair seem to know what will work in their marginal markets.
