Could GOL route an aircraft this way?

Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:53 pm

In 2019, Delta ended nonstop flights from DTW-GRU citing weak economic conditions in Brazil.

O&D between DTW & GRU is plentiful as the market used to support a daily 767, and the market is mostly high yielding auto traffic.

GOL routes MCO/MIA-BSB/FOR through PUJ to make a fuel stop and PUJ already has a nonstop on GOL to GRU. Could GOL route a 737 from DTW-PUJ-GRU? They would leave DTW with a certain amount of pax and pick up the rest in PUJ then head to GRU. This seems like a great way to scoop up some of the premium passengers from DTW that are lost flying much more expensive options or having to make a plane change in Atlanta or Miami. RJ flies DTW-YUL-AMM with no fifth freedom traffic rights on the DTW-YUL segment.

GOL caters to the Brasilian crowd flying from Brazil to the US and back plus Detroit is not a tourist/leisure destination so, no, this route would not work.

GOL passengers can just fly AA’s GRU-MIA-DTW operation.
