Which city pair is served by the most number of airlines?

Fri Feb 21, 2020 7:21 am

For long haul, New York-Paris has to be one of the top with 9: AF, DL, UA, AA, DY, Frenchbee, La Compagnie, LEVEL, Corsair

Domestically, Los Angeles-Las Vegas has 9: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, NK, F9, G4, B6

I think some other top contenders are Shanghai-Tokyo and Hong Kong-Bangkok. What others are out there?

Surprisingly there's only a few airlines connecting those cities. It might be one of the busiest city pairs when it comes to the number of flights, but not when it comes to the number of airlines.

A few LON-NYC off the top of my head that matches your 'top'. American. British Airways, Air India, Delta, Kuwait, Norwegian, Jet2 (seasonal), Virgin Atlantic, United.

Air India dropped its LHR to NYC leg.

Kuwait still uses LON as a fuel stop (west bound) but no longer has freedom flights to pick up passengers in LON and take them to NYC.

And Jet2 operates it's seasonal flights to New York from a whole bunch of British airports, but not from any London airport.

Pretty sure there are also a CP and a OO LAX-LAS as Delta Connections. If you count dbas as separate carriers that 11.

BKK/DMK - HKG has 10 (including 2 temporary suspended).

CX, MS, EK, ET, UO, HX, RJ, FD, TG, WE

ET and RJ have suspended BKK-HKG due to the Corona virus, but normally operate it.

Since BKK and DMK both serve Bangkok they are both included in the search.

I count 11 between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. One is the Firefly ATR from Subang to Seletar. Of the remaining 10, 2 are Air Asia/Air Asia X, so should count as one. Do Ethiopian and Air Mauritius have rights to carry passengers on this route?
