Sun Country Question/Seating

Thu Feb 27, 2020 3:25 am

I have my first flight on SY next week. Right now I just have a normal seat picked. I am only flying STL-RSW so it isn't like it is a super long flight. 2ish hours.

I am wanting to know how the leg room is. It say 29 inches which seems tight. I am not sure if I have flown on a plane that low on leg room before. I was just curious if anyone has flown them lately and if maybe the seats are set up so it isn't that bad. I know some thinner seats some airlines have these days help.

I was on a Envoy E175 last week that says 30 inches and had plenty of room but I was on an Aegean A320 a couple years ago that also said 30 and it was tight. I am 6 foot even if that helps.

So I am just trying to get some feedback from people who have flown them.

How much is the upcharge? I had a similar pitch on F9, but for Florida, by the time it starts bothering you, you will be landing soon.
Instead of typing in "mods", consider using the report function.
Love how every "travel blogger" says they will never fly AA/Ethihad again and then says it again and again on subsequent flights.

Best seats are another $30ish exit row is $15ish. I probably should just do the exit row but $15 buys a couple beers when I get there. If it was the flight to PDX I would be buying up without hesitation.

It's a little tight in back. Last year I sat in the section in between the exit row and the best seats up front and found it to be comfortable.

It depends. If you get a Transavia plane, it is very tight. If you get an actual SY plane it is not so bad.

Thanks. I’ll check the day before and see what plane they have lined up. I’ve flown Transavia before but I did up pay for an exit row in that.

The new seats on the SY jets are actually pretty nice. I have sat in the back of the bus on their new interior and I have sat in the front. For a short flight like that, any seat on their new layout is a good seat. However, if you are on a Transavia leased plane the seats in the back are the same pitch but Transavia planes feel MUCH more crowded because they do not have slim-line seats installed.
