Why were these A340's retired so early?

Does anyone know why D-AIHM, AIHN, AIHO, AIHQ, AIHR, and AIHS were stored/scrapped so early on when many of Lufthansa's earlier A346's are still flying? Was it a problem with the planes themselves, or something else?

Likely a heavy maintenance visit getting close which was already done on the older frames.

When you strip the engines and rotables from a 340, not much of value remains.
