Airline or Aircraft due to Covid not usually not at you airport

Sun May 03, 2020 1:15 am

As our friend Eye Trapper on Youtube have shown many unusual airline and aircraft have visited my airport YVR. There was China Southern A380, three Air New Zealand B777, Air Vietnam 350, and tonight Qatar Airlines. What about your airport?

AA is flying 738s to CLT from IAD which is abnormal
MS sent a 789 to RMF today

Saw the Air Albania A319 leaving LTN yesterday. Not sure if it is a regular visitor but it is unusual to see anything flying these days.

Not exactly my local airport, but still interesting. Two Wizzair A321NEOs have made a tour through North America to pick up stranded Hungarian passengers. They covered a number of major airports such as Toronto Pearson, New York JFK and even went as far as Los Angeles LAX. Not exactly the areas where you would usually see Wizzair operating.

SYD off the top of my head:
Edelweiss A343 (airline)
KLM 772 and 773 (airline)
LOT 789 (airline)
Condor 763 (airline)
Singapore 787-10 (aircraft - would normally be far too small)
Cathay A35K (aircraft - normally A359 and several 773 a day)
Several Kalitta 772F and 744F (airline)

And IIRC, Air Canada 789 x 2 - same day, one in each livery. Usually one 772 a day.

I expect that most international passenger flights ATM to SYD are running for belly freight, given our 14 day compulsory post arrival quarantine.

I forgot Austrian 772 at SYD - it is a former route (763 and then 772), but not for around a decade. Would have been nice if the 772 was one that had formerly flown the route.

Basel-Mulhouse got some Qatar Cargo B777s, which usually would not be seen around here. They will turn regulars by the end of May though, as all four regular weekly flights will get switched from A330F to B777F.

BRE, Bremen, Germany, saw a Qatar 777.
Usually, the biggest aircraft here is an A321.

At VIE:

2x Skyup 737-700, we were lucky enough to receive the Shakhtar livery both times, UR-SQE
Aviastar-TU 757F
3x An-124: 2x UR-82007 Antonov Airlines, 1X RA-82042 Volga-Dnepr in all-white livery
Azores A321N, CS-TSF
Kuwait 77W
Tianjin Airlines A333
MyWay Airlines 738
Rossiya 777-300, once again very lucky with the Far Eastern Snow Leopard livery, EI-UNP, and my first time seeing a longer 777 without GE90s
2x China Eastern A332

Upgrades/different aircraft from regular visitors:

Alitalia A332
Alitalia 772
Aeroflot A333
Aeroflot 77W
Turkish 77W
Lufthansa A333
Saudia A333
Ethiopian 738
Iran Air A332 (repatriation flight, usually A321 or A300)
KLM downgraded to E190 and then E175

Perhaps most interesting/strangest of all:

Belavia operated a repatriation flight using a 735 in late March, and then a few weeks later started daily scheduled service with the E175, in the middle of the pandemic. Last week they stopped flying, my understanding is that they were prohibited from carrying out the flights.

OE-LPD flew this recent flight, and was delivered in January 2007, two months before Austrian stopped flying to Australia. It had indeed visited SYD in the past on the scheduled route: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Austria ... ER/1189445

HAM have become a real spotter paradise due to the necessary crew charters for cruise lines, like Evelop A350 or TUI B787. Also this year many seasonal workers were flown in from Eastern Europe on SkyUp, UIA etc.
