Fri Jun 19, 2020 6:05 pm

When i was looking at a wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... stinations), it says United flew from Doha to Dubai in March, 2014. It really dosen't seem feasible...... Does anyone else know why this was?

It's an old revision of the page, as of March 2014. But still, why?

They served Doha as a tag from Dubai. Kuwait and Bahrain had a similar setup.

It was a tag-on flight from Dubai that was cancelled in 2014. UA used to have US government contracts to fly government employees to Dubai (and maybe Doha as well). Those flights went away when JetBlue won the contract (via a codeshare with EK)

the page also show Dulles being served from DOH. And yes, you are right about the Bahrain and Kuwait. but what's the point? They are US carrier. They were partners with Etihad I believe.

United likely saw some demand between Washington D.C. and Doha but probably knew a direct flight between IAD and DOH wouldn’t be successful at the time, so they simply extended their IAD-DXB service to cover DOH, but it underperformed.

IAD-DOH had an O&D of 22,000 in 2011: https://www.routesonline.com/news/29/br ... ving-doha/

The same goes for all ports (DXB, DOH, BAH, KWI). They were not partnered with EY. Routing was IAD(???)-BAH-KWI-BAH-IAD(???), and IAD-DXB-DOH-DXB-IAD
