787-9 Longest Route

Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:25 pm

Hello pals,

Etihad EY9969 just flew the 17-hour route between AUH and LIM today on 787-9 (A6-BLU):

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airc ... u#24c6a9fc

Is this the longest route a 787-9 has flown?

This flight doesn't show on EY's schedule. Was it a charter flight?

Cheers!

Alan

Distance wise, no. Air Tahiti Nui's TN64 PPT-CDG nonstop on March 15, 2020 was several hundred miles longer (9765 vs 9182):

It’s like a repatriation/cargo flight.

And no, it’s not the longest 787-9 flight.

Qantas operated a nonstop LHR-SYD Project Sunrise Research Flight last year.

Isn't QF's PER-LHR longer? It's over 17-hours also, but not sure about the mileage compared to AUH-LIM.

What is the longest regularly scheduled 789 flight?

Looking at FR24 AVG flight duration i think the top 3 are:

UA101 - IAD - SYD AVG 17h17
QF9 - PER - LHR AVG 16h59
UA29 - SIN - SFO AVG 16h19

I forgot about IAH-SYD, but it's about 400 miles shorter than PER-LHR.

So, PER-LHR, IAH-SYD and SIN-SFO probably take the cake for the top 3 longest routes with the 787-9.

Regularly scheduled routes perhaps, but PER-LHR is still over 700 miles less than PPT-CDG: http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=per-lhr;+ppt-cdg

Where would NZ's proposed AKL-EWR fit in? Was scheduled for OCT 2020, now who knows.

AKL-EWR would be behind PER-LHR and ORD-BNE (assuming it launches) but ahead of IAH-SYD.

Thanks. ORD-BNE will be years away if ever, likely imo QF would have A35Js and run ORD-SYD by the time ORD actually launches.
