Beech 1900s flew in Delta connection colors?

Sun Jul 12, 2020 11:14 pm

Today, I was browsing random stuff on the internet, when I found several pictures of Delta Connection Beech 1900, supposedly operated by 'Big Sky Airlines?'

There was even an article on Delta website

Registrations also were proved to fly with Big sky for DELTA CONNECTION.

But the thing is, why would they? I think they'd most likely have operated them in the mid-late 2000s. But, didn't they have other aircraft of that size, like the ATRs, E120 Brasilias, ERJ-135, CRJ100/200, and by NW merger, they had Saab 340s. There was even Delta Connection DHC-8-102, but that's another story.

the truth does matter, guys. too bad it's often quite subjective. the truth is beyond the mere facts and figures. it's beyond good and bad, right and wrong...

Ah, I'd completely forgotten about Big Sky Airlines and their tie up with Delta, even though it seemed to generate much discussion here at the time. It seems like that was relatively short lived, as I recall.

If I remember correctly Big Sky was primarily an EAS carrier, kind of like Great Lakes, before flying as Delta Connection. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Didn’t they have something of a hub in either BIL or MSO?

Yes their hub and HQ was in BIL from 1978 until 2008(?) when they closed up. They also did a lot of EAS service from a DFW hub in late 90s-early 00s. Also had places they connected to majors (GEG, MSP, PDX, DEN) at various times.
