Former Delta 717 West Coast Routes

Wed Jul 15, 2020 5:53 pm

Hello,

I am looking for routes on the U.S. West Coast that DL used to operate the B717 on, if possible with flight numbers and scheduled times. It doesn't have to be a comprehensive list, anything will do.

Thanks!

I don't have flight times and numbers, but if memory serves I believe the following have all seen 717s in the past 5 or so years:
SEA-PDX
SEA-SFO
SEA-LAS
SEA-DEN
LAX-PDX
LAX-SFO
LAX-SJC (I think... but not quite as sure about this one)
LAX-LAS
LAX-DEN
SLC-SJC
SLC-SNA
SLC-LAS
SLC-DEN
SLC-MCI (this route was a bridge to get 717s between DTW/MSP and SLC/LAX/SEA)

Routes that may have seen 717s that I'm less confident about:
SEA-GEG
SEA-LAX (limited basis, I think)
LAX-SAN
SLC-BIL
SLC-OAK
SLC-SFO
SLC-ONT
SLC-SAT
SLC-OMA
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

Interesting request. There are 91 frames, flying probably 300 segments a day at peak, although not all were West Coast.

They very briefly operated SLC-LGB - just a matter of days or weeks. Flight number was DL 2006.

In Feb / March 2017 I flew on them LAX-PHX #2244 1900PST - 2058MST scheduled times; PHX-LAX #2618 0716MST - 0815MDT scheduled times. Remember, PHX doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time so the PST / MST then MST / MDT annotations are correct for the dates in question.

You can view these two specific flights at my web pages below with screenshots of the FlightAware pages for these flights that back up my data.

SEA-GEG ROT ran consistently.
LAX-GEG ROT ran during holidays.

Many thanks for all the input from you, it looks like DL had quite an extensive operation in the West. Sad to see the B717 gone from there.

Most of fleet that is being operated at the moment seems to be doing flights out of ATL, even MSP doesn't see any more B717 flights based on some personal observations on flightradar24 over the last few days and weeks.

In addition to the routes listed, DL ran the 717 on SEA-PHX/SLC towards the end of their West Coast operations, and it also showed up on SEA-SJC once or twice as a sub.

Interesting. A nod to when the final pax T-tail (and 717) was built at LGB, or just a coincidence?
Did you know that a Boeing 717-200 is really a McDonnell Douglas MD95-30? ;-)

I'm not scouring a bunch of data (https://www.transtats.bts.gov/ONTIME/Arrivals.aspx), just going off what I've flown, seen, or worked

SEA-GEG
SEA-LAX (limited basis, I think)
...

Both operated:
LAX-SEA I've flown twice, once in 2015, and once in 2017
SEA-GEG was a RON at GEG, arrived around 2330, returned to SEA early the next morning

Routes flown that haven't been listed:
SLC-PSC: RON at PSC and return to SLC in the morning.
2016: April (DAL1051/DAL1564)
2017: March (DAL2632) & April 2017 (DAL2219)

SLC-GEG: Midday Turn
2016: Dec (DAL2208)
2017: Mar (DAL1442) & May (DAL1681)

SLC-BOI: Multiple RONs/Midday turns throughout 2017
MSP-BOI: Appears to have flown for 1 Week in Apr 2017 (DAL791)
SLC-PDX: Beginning of 2017
PDX-LAS: 1st Week of 2017

They’ve also done SLC-LAX at times, frequently not as a turn either place and sometimes not both ways in the same schedule.

Also did SJC-LAS as a hub quite a few times as well. Especially during CES.
