WN Fares 13SEP20-02OCT20

Tue Jul 21, 2020 6:45 am

When I was doing calendar searches on the WN website, I noticed that all the "Wanna Get Away" fares are pulled Sun-Fri September 13 - October 2. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? TUL to ELP, for example, is pricing $82-$119 on other days in September but on these dates, the prices are over $447. The same for ATL-MDW and ATL-RNO, for example. Does WN pull the Wanna Get Away inventory so that sales are discouraged on days that schedule changes are expected so as to allow space for reaccoms?

I'm curious too. I just booked a flight on Saturday, BDL-MCO, 9-23 - 9-29, both direct flights. This morning I got an E-Mail from Southwest of a schedule change, both of my flights now have to connect through BWI. It's weird, hopefully it's just a glitch, I'd love to know more.

With spike in covid 19 cases, restrictions closing down businesses again and the 14 day quarantine. All the airlines are seeing modest April type of cancellations again. I wouldn't be surprised if WN started following suit by canceling a hundred plus flights a day throughout its network. The Hits for 2020 just keep on coming.

I think they went in and did cuts and haven't re-calibrated the fares.

PVD is showing 9x daily which is down 1-2 (4x BWI 2x MDW 2x MCO 1x DCA)

BDL is showing only 6x with just BWI and MDW with no florida nonstop at all (at least during the week)

BOS is down to 14 daily flights
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

Perhaps they are still working on reaccommodating already booked for now cancelled flights. I'm booked for some September flights that both got cancelled and I'm given the option for several days to select new times without fare penalty. Maybe once they know how that settles out, they will set the WGA fares based on what's left of inventory.

Because of the situation worsening in southern states airlines are fearful of another wave of cancellations and so all the airlines are cutting prices again. I just booked a oneway on AA flying MIA-LGA for $26 and another from CMH-MIA for $40. Prices across the board are depressed in hopes of keeping bookings up.

These are incredible cuts for WN. This is really a brand new environment.
