9 abreast 777s

Wed Aug 12, 2020 6:37 pm

Hi everyone, I was wondering which airlines still operate 777s in 9 abreast and haven’t caved in to the 10 abreast profit in 2020?

BA (LHR birds), TK, KE, and JL still operate 9 abreast 777s. Some of NHs remain 9-abreast, but I believe they're transitioning to all 10-abreast.

Virgin Australia were 9 abreast on their 77W fleet. But they are stored and will be leaving the fleet shortly.

All Nippon Airways still has some. Been on FRA-HND in February on a 77W with 2-4-3 layout.

TG do on the 777-200ER and 777-300ER ( flew on a 77W in March ) but I think their regional 777 fleet is 10 across.

I guess Surinam Airways kept the SIA interior as well, so add another airline to the list!

BA is or has refurbished their 9 abreast 777s to 10 abreast. Those 9 abreast, although they have wider seats, are truly awful as they are very worn out and the IFE is from the early 2000s with limited entertainment.

Some of Saudia's 777s (the ones with 2-class layout) have 10-abreast economy class.

They are the Gatwick based beach fleet 777s which went through a "densification" process to combat Norwegian. Heathrow based 777s remain at 9 across.

All of BA's 777s are going 10 abreast in economy, including the LHR based frames.
