What is the next international airline to launch flights to Pakistan?

Wed Sep 16, 2020 1:35 am

With Virgin Atlantic's new entry and British Airways' increased operations, another airline has the potential to fly to Pakistan

What candidates could they be? Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, SAS, Swiss? , Or in the future we could see United or Air Canada
CX - JL - LH - KE - KL - SQ - QR - QF - TG

After UA's extensive international announcement, do you really believe they would announce Pakistan? They've shown their cards on ORD-DEL/SFO-BLR

Are you talking about western countries? Probably Lufthansa. Easy connections for the diaspora in the UK, Canada and the USA.
You could see something like Malaysian as those two countries are increasing trade.

Lufthansa, KLM, and Malaysian or BA adding Karachi. I doubt UA would come to Pakistan, probably see Air Canada arrive in PK then any American carriers.

May be CX would return to KHI, they dropped KHI before only because of security concern. There are still a lot of traffic between HKG and Pakistan, mostly VFR. And now that lucrative business traffic has disappeared, CX, which is thirsty of every drop of cash flow, may consider KHI again. Many traffic with Pakistan now continues with QR via DOH. CX can tap into that with 2 weekly A333 easily. It can get KA to fly the route with its higher density A333 too.

Flight stopped in Bangkok which also had 5th freedom rights on the flight, which was quite lucrative as lot of Pakistani go to Thailand for business and Pleasure. If they return to KHI it should be via KUL or BKK, KUL will allow it transfer Australia bound pax on Qantas or Malaysian Airlines.

It would be next-to-zero Australia bound transfer during COVID. QANTAS will not resume any international service until some time in 2021, as announced by the airline itself. So no connection onto QANTAS.

Also, Australia has imposed strict entry limit at SYD and MEL. At this point, the country only allows 350 people entering the country at SYD each day. So yes, although you see QR, CX, EK, UA, SQ, etc. are still flying to SYD, they are allocated only a very small number of quota on each flight, so that all those flights add up to no more than 350 in-bound passengers. Even QR is threatening to cancel SYD flights since their flights are only 10% full due to the restrictions.
