Classic Canadian Airport Terminal Signage

Fri Apr 09, 2021 5:36 am

Years ago, Canadain airport terminals often used white backlit signs with black lettering. The only remaining sign like this I am aware of is in the Gander International Lounge.

Any other remaining examples?

I actually can't answer this question but to change the subject a bit, it reminds me of how surprised I am of how many US airports still use those 80's style red-dot pixel display screens, instead of a full modern graphic fids display screen. For example I believe even LAX uses it at Tom Bradley check in desks!

A lot of them are from the 90s and 2000s, some even from the early 2010s. The western of Concourse C at DEN was completed in the last five years and still has them.*

So they're not old technology at all.

* Of course, it's meant to blend in with the rest of the concourse. The brand new western extension of concourse B looks even more modern

That interesting....now that you mention it DEN does use that type of display sign.

Last time I was at SFO UA was using the same overhead backlit signage that has been there for what seems like 35 years...
