For flight loggers: What is your longest unbroken list of different airlines flown?

Wed Jul 07, 2021 4:22 am

Just for fun, for flight loggers: What is your longest string of different airlines flown (only one flight allowed per airline) on in a row without a break? If you flew on a military or general aviation in between any airline flights, that breaks the sequence. Allowed is a flight with an enroute stop: for example JFK-FRA-SIN on SQ. However, no more than one flight per airline...that's the kicker.

Mine is eight, from June 1980 through April 1981. The flights are, and to drive the rule home, the only flights I took between these two dates. The fact the airports all logically coincide is irrelevant. If one flight was from JFK-CDG and your next flight is from Orly (or a completely different city) on a different airline, that is fine.

I'm positively certain it's this one (4 different carriers):

March 22, 2019 -- LATAM Ecuador XL1414 GPS-GYE A319 HC-CPY
March 23, 2019 -- American Airlines AA948 GYE-MIA 737-800 N877NN
March 23, 2019 -- JetBlue Airways B61993 FLL-NAS E190 N247JB
March 27, 2019 -- Delta Air Lines DL376 NAS-ATL 737-900 N874DN

I only started logging my flights at the beginning of 2018, so this list will undoubtedly be replaced as I fly ~20 segments per year.

Trying my best to follow the rules, I think I have 11:
2019 December 9 --- RIZ-PVG --- Shanghai Airlines --- Boeing 737-800
2019 December 19 --- PVG-HKG --- Cathay Dragon --- Airbus A330-300
2019 December 22 --- CAN-WUX --- 9 Air --- Boeing 737-800
2019 December 27 --- PVG-LAX --- China Eastern --- Boeing 777-300
2019 December 28 --- BUR-PHX --- JSX --- Embraer ERJ-135
2020 January 2 --- PRC-LAX --- SkyWest Airlines (UA) --- Canadair CRJ-200
2020 January 3 --- LAX-HGH --- Sichuan Airlines --- Airbus A350-900
2020 January 5 --- NGB-HKG --- HK Express --- Airbus A321
2020 January 12 --- FOC-PVG --- Fuzhou Airlines --- Boeing 737-800
2020 January 18 --- PVG-NRT --- Jetstar Japan --- Airbus A320
2020 January 18 --- NRT-HNL --- Hawaiian Airlines --- Airbus A330-200

I guess it is prohibited, but if we treat general aviation operators as airlines, then I could have a streak of 14 different operators.
2019 September 16 --- Qingpu-Qingpu --- Shanghai X-Square Aviation --- Guimbal Cabri G2
2019 October 3 --- PVG-CKG --- Hainan Airlines --- Boeing 787-9
2019 October 9 --- CTU-PVG --- China Eastern --- Airbus A320
2019 October 11 --- SHA-CTU --- Juneyao Airlines --- Boeing 787-9
2019 October 20 --- CTU-PVG --- Chendgu Airlines --- Airbus A320
2019 November 1 --- SHA-SYX --- Shanghai Airlines --- Boeing 737-800
2019 November 3 --- Sanya Pier-Sanya Pier --- Meiya Air --- Cessna 208 Caravan Amphibian
2019 November 3 --- SYX-PVG --- Suparna Airlines --- Boeing 787-9
2019 November 10 --- PVG-TSN --- Tianjin Airlines --- Airbus A330-200
2019 November 12 --- Beijing Badaling-Beijing Badaling --- Jinggong General Aviation --- Cirrus SR20
2019 November 13 --- PKX-PVG --- China United Airlines --- Boeing 737-800
2019 November 18 --- PVG-LAX --- Delta Air Lines --- Boeing 777-200
2019 November 18 --- LAX-ATL --- American Airlines --- Boeing 737-800
2019 November 19 --- ***-*** --- ***another operator*** --- ****** (redacted as I'm sworn to secrecy about this flight)

Re: For flight loggers: What is your longest unbroken list of different airlines flown?

The only one flight per airline rule is the real kicker, since like 99% of my flights involved round trips or connections on the same airline. But in 2016 I took a trip to East Africa that involved a bunch of legs on different airlines. There was one charter flight in the middle as part of the tour; I don't know if the OP would consider that a violation of the "no GA flights" rule. While not a scheduled flight it would legally be considered a commercial flight, and we were issued boarding passes and everything, so I am going to count it.

That would make for a string of 5 airlines:

14 Aug 2016 -- United Airlines 999 EWR-BRU 777-200 N204UA
15 Aug 2016 -- Brussels Airlines 469 BRU-EBB A330-200 unknown reg
1 Sept 2016 -- Auric Air 614 ARK-ZNZ C208 5H-TMS
4 Sept 2016 -- Ethiopian Airlines ZNZ-JRO-ADD 737-800 ET-AOB
4 Sept 2016 -- Lufthansa ADD-JED-FRA A330-300 D-AIKF

Interesting thread.

Logging multiple airlines is one of my interests. Still, it was surprising that I found so many long streams - 15 is the most I could see, but this increases to 23 if you counted GA.

Thanks all for your responses so far! It's just so interesting to see the kinds of flying we're doing over the years and the places we're going. This is nothing more than something fun to do.

Interesting thread

My highest is five in November 2018

1. AF1750 CDG-AMS A318-100 F-GUGI
2. KL1233 AMS-CDG B737-800 PH-BXK
3. FI543 CDG-KEF B767-300ER TF-ISW
4. NY112 RKV-AEY DHC8-400 TF-FXI
5. FNA536 AEY-GRY DHC6-300 TF-NLD

Broken on either side by a connecting AF flight and another NY flight.

Does connecting flight with a same booking code counts? If so, then:
07/18 SK2031 UME-ARN 73G
07/18 DY4005 ARN-UME 738
12/19 AY820/099 ARN-HEL-HKG 321/359
12/19 CX797 HKG-CGK 77W
02/20 JT815 MLG-CGK 738
12/20 QG161 CGK-MLG 320

Then the streaks stopped since i flew QG again for the return flight to CGK :(

Sure why not....they're different airlines with their own two-letter code (e.g. SkyWest = OO and Horizon Air = QX)

Depending on exactly how these flights get counted, this could be 4 or 5 (all on one trip)...

1. STL-CLT AA 1831 A320
2. CLT-YYZ AA 5631 CRJ-900 Operated by PSA
3. YYZ-VCE TS 138 A310-300
4. VCE-AMS U2 3331 A320
5. AMS-CPH SK 552 A321
CPH-ORD SK 943 A340-300 Connected to this one from AMS-CPH flight
ORD-STL AA 1073 737-800 Same as airline used STL-CLT to start the trip

If we can count regionals as different airlines, then I can get another chain of 5, which ties my previous entry:

27 Sept 2015 Sun Country 8830 MIA-HAV 737-800 N808SY
4 Oct 2015 Xtra Airways 3831 HAV-MIA 737-400 N353AS
5 Oct 2015 American Airlines 1352 MIA-LAX 777-200 N755AN
5 Oct 2015 American Eagle operated by SkyWest 2906 LAX-SMF CRJ-200 N863AS
19 Dec 2015 Delta 1160 SMF-MSP A320 N357NW

Come to think of it, if everything had gone as planned I would have gotten a chain of 6. I was booked on Alaska Airlines LAX-PDX and Horizon PDX-SMF, but the MIA-LAX flight was delayed and I missed my connection, so I got rebooked on the American Eagle flight to SMF.

I'd have to back to almost the start of my flying I think.

1985 British Midland DC9 EDI-LHR G-BMAC
1986 Pan Am 747 LHR-SFO N729PA
1986 United 727 SFO-PDX N7020U
1986 American 727 PDX-ORD N1972
1986 British Airways 747 ORD-LHR G-AWNH
next flight in 87 was Pan Am again.

Normally my flight are returns on the same carrier so I doubt anything with matching this but I'll check.

Depending on exactly how these flights get counted, this could be 4 or 5 (all on one trip)...

2. CLT-YYZ AA 5631 CRJ-900 Operated by PSA
3. YYZ-VCE TS 138 A310-300
