Was the Boeing 737, the aircraft you have flown on, most often?

Wed Jul 28, 2021 1:29 am

When I was young I wanted to travel a lot but couldn't afford long distance air travel. So I took many trips on low cost carriers that used the Boeing 737. I think it is this product from Boeing that enabled me to travel as much as I could. I have traveled on many aircraft types and I did that as a goal, but I think it was the Boeing 737 that really got me rolling on my love of flying.

How about you? What aircraft have you traveled on most? I imagine age will determine some of the answers but will be interested in your experiences? Also . . . was there one aircraft type that really ignited your love of flying?

Probably the 737 series for me, followed by the Dash 8 series.

Widebodies would probably be a close tie between the B747 and MD11.

Yes, I would say that the 737 is the type of aircraft that I've flown on the most. Along with the A320-series they're the type of aircraft that is often used on the type of routes I often fly.

Of course money is one of the major factors, I've flown a lot on LCCs and they mostly use the 737. For short-medium haul routes there's nothing wrong with that, and I rarely fly long haul. Anyway, I fly whatever is the cheapest meaning that I often end up on a 737 or A320-series. In fact I think the A319/A320/A321 is the type of aircraft that I've flown on the most after the 737.

When I was younger and still living with my parents whenever we went on holiday by plane we booked a package holiday, meaning the flight was included in the package. Being from the Netherlands, this often meant the flight was done by Transavia. A 737-airline. Not that I had much choice in the matter, the travel agency decided which flight to offer for that package. Later on when I discovered mixing and matching my own holidays together I often flew Ryanair, so even more 737s. It was only later that the A320-series started adding up as I started flying Wizzair and sometimes EasyJet.

Surprisingly, I've never flown a turboprop. No Dash 8's for me, they're pretty rare in Europe anyway and I won't go out of my way for them. As for what type of aircraft ignited my love of flying? I think I'll go with the 757 there. Not that I've flown many 757s, but it was the first aircraft type I've ever flown on as a kid. Later on I was even lucky enough to fly a 757-300 once, Transavia leased from Condor. It was the last 757 I ever flew.

Thanks to having lived in Japan 10+ years the most for me is the 777, followed by 747.

What definitely ignited my interest was being taken to SJC, SFO, and DCA view parks as a kid. I just thought the 727 and L-1011 powering up for takeoff were the greatest sounds I had ever heard.

It has been in the past for quite a while, but isn't anymore. My first 737-flights were all with charters (Air Berlin, TUI, Air Europa etc.) when my family went for vacation. Only later I started flying on less touristic airlines (mostly Lufthansa group), that somehow were using more A320s than B737, at least in Europe.

I log my flights since 2001 and currently my most flown type by far is the A320 series, followed by 737 and CRJ. Most flown widebodies are A330 and B747.

92x A320 series (34x A319, 32x A320, 3x A320neo, 22x A321, 1x A321neo), two more coming up next week
40x B737 series (4x -300, 1x -400, 4x -500, 1x -600, 2x -700, 26x -800, 2x -900ER)
36x CRJ Series (3x CRJ700, 33x CRJ900), two more coming up next week
21x A330-300 (never on -200 or neo)
14x B747 Series (3x -400, 11x -8I)

All other types I have flown 10 times or less, but there is a large variety of different types, even some rare planes like Jetstream41, Tu-154M and Tu-204.

A32X for me, they're been the only option on most routes in Vietnam, for a while the only options going into GIB from the UK, then numerous London-AGP flights. 747 probably 2nd owing to many SIN/KUL-LHR flights. A random quirk of my travels is that I barely get a chance to fly on 737s, there simply aren't many on the routes I fly. 2014 must be my last 737 flight (BA734), and only 4 on the 737NG in total.

The 737-800 and A320 are always battling it out for top spot in my statistics, it seems. I don't think there has ever been a gap of even 10 segments between their totals - currently standing at 118 for the B738 and 116 for the A320.

Looking at the families as a whole, however, I have 235 on the A320 family and just 207 on various 737 models. Nothing else even comes close, until the CRJ2 and B752 with just 25 segments a piece.

Since I rarely fly, it might actually be a tie between the MD-80, 737-900ER, and A321-200, with the 757-200 coming in close second.

Yup, I have 15 on the 738, 13 on the 73G, and 12 on the 752. Fourth place is quite a drop, with 7 on the A320. Also 5 on the 739, 3 on the 733, and 1 on the 7M8 to bring my 737 total up to 37 flights.

Possibly, with 733, 734 and 738. Given that both major domestic airlines in Australia have primarily 737 fleets it's pretty logical. That, said, I've only flown A320/1 narrowbodies outside Australia, and both Ansettt and Jetstar here.
And thinking about it, probably a higher proportion of 767 than many other places, given I always choose widebody if I can and did a bunch of SYD-MEL flights before the 767 retired.

Believe it or not, if counting all flights the plane that on top is the Embraer 135. I used to work for Intel and took a *lot* of flights on their corporate shuttles.

If only counting commercial flights, the A320 family (A319/20/21) just narrowly edges out the 737 family with 37 flights on the A320 series, and 34 on the 737.

I'm not sure what it would be for specific variants, since I never kept track of what specific version of the 737 I flew on, but if I had to guess I've probably still flown on more A320s than 737-800s.

737 for sure, then A32x, and probably a tie between 757 and 777 (maybe 777 more than 757).

The 737 used to be the airplanes I flew the most. In later years I have mostly been flying on A320s series and Embraer 190s series. But I did fly 737-100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900. No MAX so far..

I'll hazard a guess and say no, for me it was the 320 family.

When I was younger, it might have been tilted towards the 737, but these days I'm actually excited if I bag a 737, while at the same time flying a lot more overall.
All airlines I have flown regularly over the last say 15 years have either always had the 320, or switched to it during that time. There was always the odd 737 "thrown in" but the longer I think about it, the more it's always been 320.

BA, SK, LH and occasionally LX being the airlines I've been most with over the years.

Now I'm wondering whose 737 I actually had under my bum...

Definitely have more flights on 737 family aircraft than anything else, largely due to living in AS country. I'll never get onboard the 100/200/600, but I've flown everything else but the MAX series, and I'll likely be checking that off the list sooner than later. I think the 757/767 are tied for second in my log from years ago when my dad swore by DL.

Havent really counted but I can confidently say that the 737 is not the aircraft I have flown on most often.

My most flown in order -
1. 777 - (over 50% of total. mostly -200ER followed by -300ER)
2. A320 - Mostly A319.
3. A310/A300
4. 747 (mostly 400)
5. A330

I think for me it’s now the CRJ series, followed by the DC-9, and then 757-200. I only flew on a 737 for the first time a few years ago. Same for the A320 series. Don’t know how I’ve managed to avoid both for so long, but somehow I did.

For me it's the Boeing 737 by far. 54 of 153 flights.

The next highest are the Airbus A32S and Dash 8 Family both with 15 each

Highest widebody is the Boeing 767 on 8 flights.

737s can be broken down to

- 6x 737-300 (AN/MI/NZ/QF)
- 5x 737-400 (QF)
- 1x 737-600 (SK)
- 8x 737-700 (SK/VA)*
- 34x 737-800 (DY/KL/QF/SK/VA)*

* I've lumped all my DJ coded flights under VA

I don’t count my flights, but I’m pretty sure it’s the DC-9 series. I’ve flown on TWA, Ozark, Delta, New York Air, Northwest, Republic, Eastern, Valujet, Allegheny, USAir and Continental on DC-9-15s, -31s, -32s, -33Fs, -34s, -41s and -51s.

If you include the -81s, -82s, -83s, -87s -88s and -90s, I’ve been on Austrian, Alitalia, TWA, Delta, Continental and American.

717s on Midwest, Delta and AirTran

From my childhood years to college, my mother worked for Eastern Airlines. We passrode a lot. So with all the flights I have taken in life, I’ve probably seen the world from 35,000 feet from Boeing 727’s the most. Eventually the 320/321, and 737’s will surpass those though.

Never did a hard count. In recent years it is probably the 737. In the 2000s it was probably the 757. Flown the MD-80 quite a lot as well in the 2000s. Flown a few A319/A320/A321s in recent years. In the 1990s and early 2000s I flown quite a few 727s. For widebodies probably the 767 takes the lead.

Upcoming trip is 2x A321neo (AA), 1x 772ER (AA), 1x 739ER (DL), 1x 764ER (DL), and 1x E175 (DL Connection).

Nah the A320 is for me, but the 737-700 is the second most, and the 737-800 the third most.

Definitely not for me.
I've only flown on the 737 eight times. With four coming from two round trips on Avelo.
It'd be alot of counting with the A320 family but it most definitely usurps the 737 to my flying history! Then again I can thank Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and JetBlue for this. Although I am slightly proud that my first experience in a 737 was a 600.

I grew up in Detroit, so as a kid through my college years, I spent a truly obscene amount of time on NW DC-9s, A320s, and 757s. I'm not sure if the total 737 time I've had in the years since I left home will ever be enough to overcome that, since I still get a fair amount of A320 time for my domestic flights.

Interesting question, I don't have the exact numbers for each, but my two most flown aircraft would definitely be the 737 family and the 747 family.

I suspect the 737 would edge in with the most flights, but when it comes down to total hours/km flown, the 747 would easily win

Oh I've flown on many of Southwest's 737s. Mostly -700s and a handful of -800s. I flew it a lot throughout personal trips and also through college when traveling with the basketball/volleyball team. Though they did start to switch to Sun Country towards the end. Oof.

No. From what I've got logged in my.flightradar, it's the 4th most common plane I've been on (thought it is catching up rapidly).

There was a point in my life where I was working in one town and living in another so would fly there and back every day. Which means the Boeing 717 and Dash-8-Q400 take the top spots for me. The A330 is next up, due to large amounts of intercontinental travel. The A320 just edges out the 737 for me.

Though I have moved from a regional center to a major city and most of my flying now (hampered as it is by Covid) is between major centers, so a lot more 737s than previously. 717 still made a lot of appearances during Covid and should hold the lead for the next year at least. With next to no international travel, the 737 will leapfrog the A320 and A330 soon (though I did get an A330 on a domestic flight the other day).

Overall, probably the 737, but the A32S is certainly up there. The 757 was big for me before, though not as much now. The E145 and CRJ-200 are definitely up there and the E120 was quite big for me for a while. The E Jet family, especially the 175, has increased a lot in my travels.

For me it's the DC-10, DC-9 and 727

What is most common depends on which airline I am flying.
757s, CR2, and A320s was my most common. In the past ERJs (little ones, not E-jets).

Now my most common are LAX-MCO (work, Orlando) or LAX-TPA (family) and that is usually a DL 739ER, rarely an A321.

Next is a a 757 or 739ER to SLC to a CR2 to little cities. I expect with DL massive A321 orders, I'll see more of them.

Except for rare E-175, we seem to have a similar pattern.

Before 175s became so popular, my flights between LAX and then SAN and YYZ/YKF/BUF would usually see a 50 seat RJ on the final leg, and sometimes a small mainline or CR7. The 175 displaced a lot of that, thankfully.

I thin I have had more flights on not just the A320 family but also the one and only 747.
