Will Condor go down?

Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:29 pm

They have a new investor who bought A330neos which they get from autumn 2022.

But Condor is dependent of the connecting flights from Lufthansa. A judge may rule that LH doesn't need to do that anymore.

Furthermore there is now Eurowings Discover. Offering routes that Condor has. Direct competition.

Did Condor find a profitable market niche? Or could everything be simply replaced by EW?

I'm not too familiar with this arrangement. Is this legal termination you mentioned something likely to happen or just a hypothetical? How does it differ from a codeshare/interline agreement, which I would think benefits LH as much as it benefits DE or they wouldn't participate in it?

We know that European leisure airlines have a tougher time staying afloat than their American counterparts, but Condor seems to have a solid foundation in a city that should continue to provide them a passenger base. They largely serve a separate purpose from LH (business versus leisure). As far as Eurowings Discover, I don't see why they're any more of a threat than Eurowings itself was.

Here it's quite good explained:

And the whole drama:

Eurowings didn't have long haul routes for some years. Now with EW Discover they offer long haul routes, that Condor has.

Thanks for the links. Didn't EW serve Florida (MCO, RSW) for some time or am I thinking of someone else?
